How does scoring actually work. I picked all my players based on a few attributes I'd like to do well, but completely ignored some other scoring criteria. I assume I'll do very well on categories 1, 2 and 3, and will suck on categories 4,5 and 6 (strenght-based management). Now, I dont really know how my final score will be made of, but I assume you get some benefits for ranking 1st in some categories and you have diminishing returns for being avg/bad in others?
(i.e 100 pts for being 1st, 60 for being 2nd, 40 for being 3rd, 30 for being 4th and so on).
Second, how does time allocation work? Say player 1 makes 20 pts playing 36 minutes, but I only use him 30 mins, how much does that affect my score?
You can't only use a player 30 of 36 minutes in a game. Can't make in game adjustments.
A high usage guy like Durant will have a large impact on your overall FG% because say he goes 14 for 25. If another guy goes 1 for 5, then it won't impact you too badly even though his fg % was bad, because between the guys you are still 15 for 30.
A guy like Harden and Durant who shoot tons of free throws also have a major impact on FT%, whereas a really bad FT shooter will really only impact you negatively if he shoots a ton of FTs like Howard for example. But guys who are mostly defensive bigs that don't score may rarely shoot FTs so their 0-2 line or something has minimal impact.
Other than those cats, it is just a straight up accumulation of stats. If you have a guy in your lineup who's team plays that night, but he ends up sitting out, he doesn't count as a start.
You have 82 starts at each spot. So you need to watch if you are behind or ahead at each spot throughout the season. Last season in the D league I was near the bottom for quite a while during the season due to sticking closely to # of games and not getting too ahead of schedule. Others subbed in a ton, so had accumulated more stats, but with games remaining at the end, their stats stopped. Once I caught up in games played to everyone, I ended up in 3rd place.
If you have REALLY good players that are out for like two weeks, you don't want to get too far ahead in their categories in games played, because it would suck to run out of games at their spots and you miss being able to play a guy like Westbrook the last 7 games of the season or something.
