I love his game...but I need to see more consistency in the jumper.

Re: Acy and the Knicks
Does having two energy/defensive players starting (Shump and Q) alongside Dally give you enough to compensate for Calderon and Melo to where the Knicks could have above-average D? Does it allow you to play Bargs and still have solid D?
It's shaping up to be an interesting question and roster, and perhaps season.

i don't think melo will need to be compensated for with an actual scheme in place defensively. he needs to close out on shots better and stop picking up cheap fouls but aside from that he's fine.
calderon i worry about but we can throw shump on the best perimeter player to mitigate some of that. don't think bargs will be able to fit in, he's just too slow.
there's no reason our starters can't be above average. our bench on the other hand will be a disaster.

Starting acy is going to be a disaster for the offense though. They're going to sag off him and Dalembert all game. Worried about that.

But remember that's the beauty of the triangle it exposes the weakness in defense with constant ball movement and motion, there's no constant sagging if all 5 defenders are constantly moving.

It is why I personally Favor starting Jason Smith, he defends fairly well, is aggressive, a good hustle guy and can hit the open J.
But i like Acy too and am willing to give him a go if that is what Fish thinks is best for our chemistry.

Yeah I'm somewhat partial to this idea as well, but I think Smith is also a really solid option to be the first big man off the bench. It will definitely be interesting to see how things play out. I just hope Fisher doesn't give in to playing Stat/Bargs excessive minutes just because of their names/salaries.

This would actually be our best defensive line up, let's not forget that Melo is no pushover. Our only weakness would be Calderon in this line up in which I can deal with sense Shump can guard the better guards.]

Re: Acy and the Knicks
I like what I've seen from him so far, but I think we need to temper our expectations of this guy like a lot. His career defensive stats, including last year, are really really bad actually. I'll reserve judgement for when he plays a reg season game, but I'm actually gonna keep my expectations low.
And just like that, the lead has been cut to 8!

Re: Acy and the Knicks
He's still young so he has the "potential" tag on his side. The goal this year is not to win a championship. Playoffs would be nice but I think Coach Fisher is focused on training and development , establishing a new culture and hopefully find good value future role players until next season.

i'm a bigger jason smith fan too, i still think he's a better defender than acy and loads better offensively. his per 36 for the last few years are pretty impressive.

Re: Acy and the Knicks
I love Acy's energy but if one this this preseason has proven its that we cant score straight out the gate and this has being against preseason scrubs mainly.
Starting Jason Smith at PF makes more sense to me giving us not only a jumpshooter perfect to get the triangle going but also a big body on the boards.
That being said ive being a fan of Acy since the trade re watching Kings games from last season and said straight off the bat he would be a fan favorite which he has shown he can be the energy player to come off the bench kind of what we used to get from the JYD.

it seems as Acy and Jason Smith are both in the fight for the starting power forward spot.

I also think Cole Aldrich should see some more minutes at center too, play Jason at the starting 4 and play Cole more...

Not a great sign that JR is getting praise from Fisher. I don't think he should even play.

Yeah, I read that piece as well. Most of his praise seems to be in film sessions and such, no so much on the court.
I think Fisher is smart enough to know when a player is helping or hurting the team, and I think he will adjust accordingly.
