Not if you haven't fired this guy yet!
Shula is the only one that needs to go ASAP IMO.

I agree that he does but so does the man that told us Bell and Chandler were good players and that our secondary was going to do well.

Since then 37, 38, 24, 37, 38. This defense was built around the pass rush and we aren't getting any. Hopefully we can get a stud stud tackle or pass rush in the mid first round this year because we aren't going to have any cap room to pay for top tier FAs for awhile. Most of the money coming off the books this year will go into signing Cam. We should just rehire Chud, he could at least get points on the board. I have no idea how Mike Shula ever gets a job. The Charles Johnson (his cap hit next year is 20 million), DeAngelo, J Stew contracts, + trading a De Facto 1st rounder for Armanti Edwards are killing this team. I don't think Gettlemen has done anything super (Please Use More Appropriate Word) yet unless you can prove we could afford to Franchise Hardy and keep last years secondary and sign a stud FA Tackle. Don't mention Jordan Gross, the O-line sucked last year with him on it too. If anything its only marginally worse. Drafting Kony Ealy is looking like his worst move so far. He would have at least not signed two running backs to monster contracts (1 that wasn't even good) when the rest of the league is using the bargain bin.

I just don't see the point in firing a gm mid-season, unless you want someone else to manage next week's trade deadline. We tried that a couple years back when we fired Hurney mid-season, it changes nothing.

We can't resign Captain who is getting 3 per and Mitchell who is getting 5 per after that. Gettlemen's tenure in Carolina has looked identical to what the Giants have done. Draft d-linemen in the 1st two rounds pretty much every year, fill the secondary with bargain bin free agents. NFL is all about not overpaying players, and finding talent on the cheap.

The Giants had tons of DEs and went pass rushers we went with DT and a run stopping DE. The Giants also knew they needed some OL and made that a priority. When the Giants went for secondary players they valued speed and we have not at all. Gettleman is trying to copy the Giants but he wasn't part of building them since he was not in charge of the draft nor was he GM. He is just guessing and it isn't working out well. The fact that everyone who meets him seems to hate him also hurts the team in bringing in FAs.

Bringing in FAs is the least important way of acquiring talent in the NFL especially for a team with no Cap Space. No team that kills it on paper during Free Agency is any good. Team generally don't let good players go until they aren't worth the money any more.

Yet that was the job Gettleman had at NYG. He was in charge of scouting the NFL players for FA. The draft was Marc Ross the young guy we should have hired when we got a new GM.
