Correction, it's not that I don't like shumpert, I just don't think he's a particularly good player like a lot people on here think. Hardaway is a future all-star, starting shumpert is a horrible move.

All of this.

All Shumpert is, is a homeless, dying man's Tony Allen.

Aha! The root is uncovered.

It's weird that we sh*t on Tyson for not being able to cover everyone when supposedly the scheme was to funnel everything to him anyway, but yet Shump gets a pass. And don't give me that "well Tyson stopped being a team player" when Shump played like crap all last year due to "rumors" of him being shopped for a damn trade.

I dunno. I don't think I ever gave Tyson all that much grief. He had a tough year last year but otherwise played pretty well for us.

I think moralewise - his own and the team's - he had to go. That and he was the most tradeable of the Big Expirings.

That's fine. Fatso was sent went him so I'm not mad, this Shump crap is out of hand now though.

Why is he considered a saint while Tyson is considered a puzzy when Tyson had the better Knick career...and it's not even close?

:dontknow:

This one isn't my fight as TC was more or less who I thought he was when he came here. I think some had inflated expectations of what he could do. I like Shump and the team plays better when he's on the floor than when he isn't (as they also did with Chandler).

Because Shump is still young and unknown (to a degree or another) and because Woodson chose to keep JR with a big role which has arguably hurt Shump quite a bit.

Remember Shump had a very good playoffs against Boston and played well against Indiana too, for the most part, while JR spit the bit. Coming off development like that, other teams might have given Shump the keys. The Pacers did with Paul George and I'm not sure George is a superb talent OR that he didn't have plenty of ups and downs before he established himself. Pacers still turned it over to George (and/or Granger just got out of his way by injury) and it worked out well for them.

Woodson? He went back to JR full blown and Shump just seemed to fade away from there.

I don't even know what that means. I think one guy said that was his ceiling.

Why should other posters, people who recognized him as a good defender who could develop some offensive skills, feel any differently just because one dude said he was Wade?

This is simply an excuse. Where was Shump the beginning of last year when JR was out with the suspension and recovering from surgery?

We say this is a "what have you done for me lately" fan-base...

we didn't make the playoffs last year so Shump's "playoff run's" are a distant memory. What I remember is an average defender who can't shoot to save his life.

Well, it's those ceiling threads. Some people take them the wrong way. Iirc, I said his ceiling would be like a Caron Butler. Good three point shooter, good dribble drive, good passer (he's actually better than Butler in this regard) but not enough of a handle to be a real superstar. Obviously, a pest on defense, like Butler and he can guard guys with length.

Now, there's a ceiling and a floor. He certainly isn't as good as Butler (can't finish, not as much versatility with his shot) but I never really _expected_ him to get there. I think that's where a lot of people get tripped up. Both about those threads and the players themselves.

Let Shump be Shump.

He will receive all my hate until he's off this team which I hope is very soon. Just like Tyson was the center of hate for others.

What was JR's suspension, like 3 to 5 games? That's hardly a fair amount of time to judge him. And in the preseason, Shump probably saw that he hadn't moved to Square 2 with Woody. For a young player that's demoralizing.

Should Shump have been tough enough to fight through it? Maybe. But I wonder how George's development might have gone if Granger absolutely sucked in the playoffs, while George stepped up his game, and then George came back to camp the next year to find a crackhead still in front of him in the rotation. Would he have still broken through? Maybe. Maybe not.

You're forgetting how good Shump looked in the 2013 playoffs. He was very good and at times great.

I'll leave it at this; Shumpert is 24 years old, his "young" label is about to expire.

We drafted him and he has a Dwayne Wade ceiling. Frye was young Duncan and Gallo was Dirk jr. Balkkman=Rodman and Mardy Collins was a future all star. This tradition dates back to pre Frank Williams.

You gotta keep up.

I also gave Tyler a "Karl Malone" ceiling and explicitly said I was doing it so people would bring it up later.

It worked!
