Probably because they built their team the same way we're doing it.

Because they are the poster child for getting good through getting bad.

This will make it more difficult for teams to go from zero stars to one star and more than 2 teams should realize that.

Apparently the Bucks will now be joining the Sixers and Thunder in voting against lottery reform. Still need five more. I assume the Sixers will be spending the next 24 hours lobbying every small market team possible. Teams that would be hurt (at some point or another) by the lottery reform that should be targeted: Indiana, Charlotte, Atlanta, Detroit, Orlando, Toronto, Cleveland (LOL), Memphis, Sacramento, San Antonio, Portland, Minnesota, New Orleans, and Utah.

Would be amazing if the reason we agreed to give OKC the trade exception by doing the Thabeet trade was in exchange for their no vote.

And they know that the draft is the only way a small market team like OKC can ever acquire a star.

Add PHX to the list too since they own the Lakers pick next year and the new lottery reform makes it more likely that pick will jump to the protected range - maybe the same for Houston.

Maybe the ship has sailed on voting down the changes, but we may have a fighting chance at delaying it for a year. I have convinced myself that we have lost this battle already so I won't even be disappointed if it passes.

if i'm a fan of team that votes "yes" i'm legitimately questioning the intelligence of my owners and front office.

Where are people getting the info that OKC and Milwaukee are going to join with the Sixers in voting no?

You see it happen time and time again people vote against the own best interest.

The Sixers had the 2nd worse record in the league last year and they ended up with the 3rd pick. Cleveland almost makes the playoffs vaults over several teams and wins the lottery again for the 2nd straight year in a row.

So what does the NBA want to do. Make it easier for teams on the cusp of making the playoffs to move up in the lottery. How does that make any sense?

Philly with all their tanking only got the 3rd pick. As flawed as this present system is, It is working and doing what it is designed to do....somewhat.....there is no guarantee that teams that tank will win the ultimate prize.

But wait until a big market team leaps over everyone and gets a one in a generation talent because a player or two was injured that season. Everyone will be crying foul.

This vote getting passed just shows how dumb some of the richest people in the world are. And thats all Im going to say because if i get started Im just going to go on a long rant about how absolutely ridiculous this is, and how much it is going to hurt the NBA longterm.

If Hinkie finds a way to get this killed or delayed I'll be convinced that he's some sort of witch doctor and that we will win a title in the next six years.
The feedback I've received from our fans is they understand we are trying to build something great. Good decisions come from having a broad set of options and making tough calls. We will do it unblinkingly. We have to be willing to take smart risks-Hinkie

Even though I believe the Sixers are slightly abusing the system, I think it is utterly important that the worst teams get the top picks. Besides Cleveland getting the number one pick, I liked the 2014 draft because it felt like very team got the pick they deserved.

Supposedly 2 other teams are considering changing their votes. Although, believe that none of these teams are really truly changing anything, it was just a fun narrative to spin that the Sixers were the only team opposing it because tank.

So much for Zach Lowe's Sixers to be only team to vote "no" stuff.

The more you think about it the less sense it makes. You have an imperfect system already and you want to make it more imperfect.

Can some explain to me how reducing the odds that the worse teams get the best pick is good for the league?

Bad teams don't want to be bad forever just for a short time to get good picks and then get better. What is wrong with that?

It's like quitting your job and moving back home to go to school. It sucks and now you have to sneak the women into your parents basement or find deserted spots to park your car and hope the police don't harass you, but you do it because you have a goal. Once you've reached your goal...you may never be president of a company...but you are moving out of your parents basement quickly and trying to build yourself up now that you have your educatmon.

It would be funny if the league implemented this change and Indiana get's the first pick in the 2015 draft. it would be poetic justice.

And yes I know I spelled education wrong. Sometimes even with a degree your situation does not change much...sometimes even with the #1 pick your situation does not change much..but that is life. IMHO it is better to take a step back in hopes of improving and don't improve than to have the odds stacked more against you as you try to improve.
