What bothers me here is this -- there is no one set of posters who own a board. Sure, you can post in the team-specific board of your choice but it's not like you have any special powers that visiting posters don't have. You can't treat them disrespectfully, have them engage, then not get an equal punishment if the mods deem it appropriate.

This whole situation is bull. Excuse the pun.

Choosing mods based on foaming at the mouth loyalty to a team seems to be the MO on many boards.

Seems to be a poor policy. But when you're getting free help and profiting in the millions.....the owners can't complain. :)

Word to the wise Mass, get retroactive legal papers signed stating that mods agree they are benefiting professionally by being a "volunteer" here. Saying this from experience with forums much larger than this one.

FWIW, I messaged the admins and Duck about it as well. (I didn't copy anybody else in the conversations.) I didn't want anybody to think I wasn't sticking up for Dat2U too.

Vegas has it at 31.5 wins. I'm guessing I would go under that but not 20. Philadelphia somehow won 19 last year.

I agree on the under 31.5 but over 20, Kanyewest.

Ed Davis and Julius Randle are going to convert shots into points. Lin is an underrated playmaker. He can break down defenses off the dribble and he has a reliable jumper. I think the Lakers are going to compete nightly. Byron Scott will challenge Kobe Bryant to defend better and the team will follow his lead.

Don't mean to hi jack this thread about one legendary, great poster, Dat2U.

Hi, Wiz fans. Bulls mod here to say that, with all due respect, no one posting on this thread has sufficient information to making the kinds of judgments being made here. The relevant posts on the Bulls board were edited out by a Bull mod. You're all just expressing allegiance to one of your very good posters, and I can fully understand that. We Bulls fans have our guys' backs as well. But you have no idea whether a Bulls mod did something wrong. I can tell you right now that the mod in question is not only a legendary poster and mod, but is one of the more moderate moderators. Rarely suspends anyone. Successful attorney, family man, knowledgeable sports fan, funny guy. Again: the trashing that's going on here is not only undeserved, as you think of your poster's suspension, but completely misinformed.

Another thing: your poster's second suspension had nothing to do with the Bulls board but the General Board. It took me all of 2 minutes to figure that out.

We have many great posters who have gotten into trouble on other teams' boards. We mods might try to advocate for them behind the scenes (although usually we know that they deserved it), but we don't make a public spectacle of it.

I wish you all the best on the upcoming season. Washington has had to wait for too long for basketball success. I really like the moves that your front office has made. And I've very much enjoyed some of your knowledgeable, long-time posters' insights over the years. Pineapple, Chocolate, and numerous others. But this particular mob scene does not do you credit. :peace:

I tend to greatly tone down my schtick on other boards, if I even post at all, because it sometimes seems like a minefield. You're right that I and others may not know everything that happened behind the scenes, and maybe we're just sticking up for our buddy, but from what I have seen, the posts in question didn't look much different from those he posts on this board. He combines team loyalty, blunt criticism, and (as you may have observed) a rather colorful way of expressing himself.

Do you know how long the current suspension lasts? I'm feeling a little Dat2U withdrawal here. Hopefully, his longtime positive contributions will be weighed into the analysis.

Chillax, I'm only joking. I'm sure your mod is an upstanding individual but so was Dat. Far be it from me to vouch for an anonymous internet handle but he was a knowledgeable poster and to the best of my knowledge, he has never been suspended. Just an FYI, I happened to catch a few of Dat's posts since I posted in the thread in question as well. Other than an opinionated back and forth, I saw no reason for him to be suspended. From my point of view he got suspended for having an opinion on the Bulls board.

oh and this right here
It took me all of 2 minutes to figure that out.

Take your condescension elsewhere, nobody here accused the Bulls board for suspending him twice and neither is it any poster's here responsibility to snoop that out...except for the moderators. So glad you found that out so quickly chief. Our tax dollars at work.

I'm going to respect your board's integrity and not sully it with lots of dickering, which is a standard that we should all try to uphold. I really do wish your team the best, no sarcasm intended. Pineapple and Chocolate City are terrific. Cheers.

Look, I don't care to be involved in this myself, but don't want to see good mods being messed with because of things like this. I know the other parts as well, and the 2nd suspension was legitimate. Ben wasn't being condecending, and just wanted to try to clear the air. His second suspension was gen board related from what I know as well, and these guys are doing their best to keep the boards as good as they are.

"Sarcasm is the lowest form of wit, but the highest form of intelligence."

Dry wit, to an intelligent person, is a challenge to further debate/and the response a quick indication of the intelligence of their potential adversary.

A suspension for such a call out certainly gives a clear indication.....

Agreed. But when all the background information gathering is done, I think a general explanation of why he was suspended (1st suspension mind you) was warranted. Also, just my opinion, I don't like the fact that your posts can be edited. Granted, if it's inherently offensive, then fine. Dat's "offending" post should have been edited and then we could highlight that case as a teaching moment. I would like to know why almost all of his posts were edited. I seriously doubt all of his posts broke the rules and it comes off as personal and childish.

That's my two cents and I'll leave it at that.

Hello Ben, thank you for taking a minute to address the topic of conversations on the RealGM. You make some very valid points. Furthermore, the culture I see developing on several of the sites penalizes a poster for displaying their team colors. Is that what leadership and management is striving for at the RealGM? To alienate posters for creative ideas that favor a different team. Some fans have two home teams or just love the NBA in general. Just something to think about for the growth of the RealGM.

I only have love for the Bullets.

I hope Rose makes a 100% recovery and I look forward to the games coming between our two teams. You know it going to be physical because the tone was set last year in the playoffs. Lets get it on!

BTW - Our MODS are great on the Wizards site.

Everyone,

Please note that I am still in the process of communicating with all of the parties in this matter.

One thing I do not want to see is the bashing of any Moderators.

If you have done so in this thread or anywhere else, I want you to edit those comments out.

This situation is being handled and everything is going to work out for all parties involved.

If anyone has questions, please send me a PM.

When I hear the word "attorney" I react not unlike Moe from the Three Stooges whenever he hears "Niagara Falls". Please forgive me, Ben. The rest of your post after "attorney" sounded like wah wah wah, Charlie Brown's teacher talking. (Monte, a compassionate, competent attorney is worth his weight in gold--you know I jest).

(Couple divorces in the past and a bit of a legal nightmare this year. I am good but a bunch of lawyers got PAID! :) )

Any how, thanks, Ben. I respect that you're saying we don't know all of what Dat2U said. Hey, he is my friend and I admit I am biased.

I will say to that mod this doesn't sound like Dat, but I have said and done something out of character myself in the past. I offended others but at the time felt I was in the right. I hope when all is said and done mutual respect comes out of this.
