Wait...your wife was with you at the game no?

No, went with a work buddy. Our seats in Section 213 were right in front of a bunch of Wizards Girls.

Whenever my wife and I hit a game, the moment the Wizards Girls come traipsing onto the court, I can hear my wife muttering "tramps" under her breath. (Actually, not even under her breath lately).

That being said, since she's so anti-Wizards girls, I kinda pay attention to my Ps and Qs when we're at a game together. Most of you who are Facebook friends with me know that my wife is a Federal agent who has a Glock with her all the time.

I cannot stand the Wizards girls. They dress and dance like strippers. I have no problem if you're into that, but I see no earthly reason why they should be at a basketball game. My daughter is nearly seven; she's smart and perceptive. It's basically impossible to being her to a game and for her not to get the message that the men play/do and the women dress like sluts and dance for everyone's entertainment. The Wizards wouldn't lose a dollar if the Wizards girls were de-sexified and turned into "cheerleaders" or a "drill team" the way you'd see in high school or college.

What I read into your comments is the Wizards girls are lewd, vulgar, and over the top.

Personally I am surprised more people don't protest cheerleaders and drill teams. I am surprised that feminists don't jump all over that. Their message IMO is women and girls exhibit sex appeal while guys play. It's been that way since at least the 70s and the Dallas Cowboys cheerleaders. Even my school's HS cheer squad were more than a little revealing.

fish, a lot of people want to see risqué entertainment. I empathize with you as a parent. I think, however, our culture is eroding into hedonism. They will sex it up more before they de-sexify.

There's only one way to change this embarrassing sexist trope. We, the Wizards RealGM board, will go to the Mystics games and will perform at halftime and timeouts as "the Mystics Men". Imagine hands11 sitting on my shoulders doing the YMCA dance while monte and CCJ do cartwheels in front of us as Elton John's "Goodbye Yellow Brick Road" blasts from the loud speakers.

Cheer and drill teams aren't my personal cup of tea, but they are athletic endeavors. You don't see college cheer and dance teams dressing and moving like hookers. The presence of cheerleaders does nothing to increase my interest in a sporting event.

If people want to see risque entertainment, fine. I have no problem with it. Let them follow the tried and true three step process that monte laid out above. Because particularly with today's access to any type of adult-oriented imagery one would want on the internet, why would any potential paying customer give a rat's ass about trampy cheerleaders at a basketball game. From a business standpoint, I bet it turns off my customers than it brings in.

I guess you folks remember me talking about the emails I exchanged with Ted
about this guy. Wouldn't have been so bad except they would often award
him as the winner of the dance cam. This being based at least somewhat
on audience applause, it doesn't exactly make a ringing endorsement for
our culture. People would laugh and hoot, but if you were a parent of
a young person, it didn't set a great example.

I personally don't go to that many Wizards games and when I do it isn't to see the cheerleaders. But that is an interesting question though to see if people decision to go to a game is dependent on seeing the cheerleaders. I don't think people who do would readily admit that it's part of the decision process that tips them over towards buying a ticket.

Huh. When I took my 14 year old daughter to a preseason game I was more worried about yelling "YOU SUCK REF" in front of her than the example the cheerleaders were setting.

According to my daughter I hate John Wall because I was constantly ragging on his defense.

Yet again -- FAH! Dude...Knicks game thread!

Board -- if FAH's not in with a game thread late tonight (Monday night) or early Tuesday, somebody please make one.

NEW RULE: Don't make game threads if you're not going to be around to make one for the next game in case the Wizards win.

Can't we do Hammer Time or Humpty Dance or something. Always hated that YMCA thing. Beside, haven't have a chance to break out the Humpty nose in a while.

And for the record. If it was a straight crowd of women, they would be worse then the guys are watching cheerleaders. Specially if they had a few drinks in them.

As for the original point. Yeah. Not a fan of the slut dancing cheerleaders. Someone needs to bring classy back. Sometimes less is more. But keep in mind, its women leading these groups coming up with these "dance" moves. Its all an extension of the Fly Girls thing.

Some basis CHEER LEADING to get the crowd loud would be fine. You know, Let Go, Wizards ...

And some intermission choreographed stuff is nice as entertainment. It doesn't have to be stripper moves or Fly Girl dance stuff. Just modern, jazz, lyrical style stuff. Dance as an art form, not a booty dance.

Who know KC & Sunshine Band would be the beginning of the end..

That deserves a hands.

:nonono: :noway: :nonono:

We are just getting more and more classless as time goes on.
