I have never heard of anyone looking this raw in thier third season going on become a dominant scorer. We'd be better if we used Drummond more like he was last year with the putbacks and alley oops. Andre Drummond from 3-5 feet from the hoop usually results in an airball.
Smith had his best game of the season tonight, which isn't saying much considering how up and down he was. We were in this game, were only down 3 until he decided to jack up a 3 pointer early in the shot clock- thats why he's getting the hate. Despite looking mediocre most of the game, we couldve won but Smith makes a bonehead 3, Chicago hits a 3 on their next attempt and the game goes from 3 to 6. That moment sealed the loss for us. Even when Smith plays "well" he still hurts you with his low IQ, we just need to get rid of this guy- as long as Drummond struggles, Smith will continue to play heavy minutes and monopolize the offense- which will continue leading to losses.
Monroe once again is showing that he's our best player. He is such a consistent scorer and we can go through it down to him in the post for easy buckets. He cleans up on glass and he played the best defense on Gasol . I disagree that Monroe was gassed at the end of the game. He had played the whole quarter when he came out so I do think that needed a breather but he shouldve returned at the 2 minute mark, which would've meant he had around 5 minutes of rest included TOs. When Gregs not on the court we look like trash.
KCP not hitting his shots hurts us especially when Smith/Drummond can't buy a basket either. He looks streaky right now, we need him to be able to score consistently. I agree that having Meeks will be a tremendous boon for us since we desperately need some consistency on the perimeter.
I have no problems with Jennings being benched to end the game. He botched last nights final play trying to be the hero and looked out of control for most of the game. I like that when Jennings messes up, SVG just keeps him on the bench- its a shame that SVG doesnt do that for Smith but with Drummond looking so poor, maybe he just cannot afford to.
Also Singler finally had a good game, Augustin and Caron looked good as well. But still, we need a legit perimeter scorer- KCP hasn't been that guy this season, hopefully he can get his shot to fall soon and Meeks should provide some consistent offense as well.
If you've never seen a raw third year big (let alone at only 21 years old) you must be new to bball but just for future reference. Dwight Howard was solely dunks until around his 5th or 6th year. Most bigs take a long while, hence the reps being so vital.
Obviously an overreaction about Drummond being "an airball from 3-5 feet". Let's keep it semi factual, struggles, rushed, yes, airballs, stop it.
Spot on about Monroe tho..
