To me, that's a no brainer trade for us. I see Stauskas as part of our core then and now have 2-5 more or less "set." Run Wolters/Marshall the rest of the year. Sign Beverley to a deal you know Houston won't match. I would love that core 5 - still have a deep enough bench too.

I'm not a huge Stauska's fan. But I could do it simply to get Knight out of the rotation.

I don't make a move to just get Knight out of the rotation but I do to move him away from being the primary ball handler.

That said, Knight seems to be by far our best available trade asset other than picks we shouldn't even consider trading.

ill be interested to see what other people say, but i wouldnt trade him for anything worse than a top 5 pick, or a young pg with tremendous upside and a mid 1st.

not interested in any vets with leadership really unless we somehow have some other outgoing pieces (mayo/zaza/bayless/dudley/knight), and those vets are limited to PG's and C's that are likely worth more to their current teams than larry could be. so really, we are looking at picks or prospects.

I know I asked the question and you're entitled to answer however you like, or not at all hahaha. I appreciate your response, and I realize that larry is probably worth more to your team than what his market value would be, but I find it tough to conceive a guy who avg's 5.7pts, 7.8 rbs, 2 blk, 1.7 stls, 1 ast, to be worth multiple 1st's including a top 5. We all know his value isn't fully represented in his stat line, because he does other things to help the team that don't really show up in a box score, but usually top 5 picks, packaged with another mid 1st, are reserved for all-star type players. Would it help if you were able to add a dead weight contract like Ersan to the mix?

id do something like larry to the atlanta hawks for dennis schroeder the rights to walter taveras and a 1st round pick in 2015 or 16
for larry i would want to get a 1st rounder with 1 to 2 young players who have a chance to be great players.
the thing with larry is hes such a good rim protector and rebounder that he makes your whole defense better.. hes not much of a scorer but you dont need him to be

That seems much more reasonable. I agree with your assessment of his affect on the team defense also. I'm a Raptors fan and lately we've been looking for ways to improve our interior defense, and rim protection. Jonas is good but our coach doesn't play him because he's a big 5 who lacks a bit of mobility when guarding guys who can stretch him out to the 3pt line or guys who are quick pick & roll guys. Anything on the raptors roster you find enticing? We have a plethora of first rounders at our disposal, but our GM Masai Ujiri is a scout at heart and really holds draft picks in high regard.

With how good Brandon Knight is playing, would the Celtics consider something like a Knight / Henson swap for Rondo (pairing Knight with another combo guard in Smart)?

Yes this would be us trading two young players -- one of whom is breaking out as a scorer -- for an older one.

But I'm wondering whether Rondo could have a "Steve Nash" kind of effect on Giannis and Parker like what happened when the Suns first brought aboard a veteran star PG to pair with a very young Amare.

not a top 5 pick & another mid 1st. either a top 5 pick // OR // a pg with upside and a mid 1st.

and no, we arent in any position where we need to unload dead weight contracts to free up cap space to spend on more dead weight contracts. it'd be great to get ersan off the books but who are we going to sign with that money that wouldnt be an overpay to come to milwaukee to play with our young guys?

i know having cap space is valuable, but not at the expense of losing valuable assets, who can contribute, and who are young. considering larrys age, theres no way id throw in dead weight contracts to unload him.

Oh sorry man, I misread that. I think we could provide the high lotto pick but as far as a young PG, we have none. Vasquez is a big PG with a great competitive nature and team attitude who once led the league in assists the last time he started, and really has a great all-around impact on his teammates, but he's not young and has no more upside. I do think he could be a good starting PG who will run the offense, knock down 3's, get everyone involved, and play tough with a swagger, but I could see why you guys would be looking for something more than him obviously. I'd personally do Vasquez (since we have lou williams) and 2 mid 1sts for him. The only reason I say mid 1st's is because we own whichever is worse of the Denver, NYK 2016 picks, and we also have our own 2015 1st as well as a bunch of 2nds. http://www.prosportstransactions.com/ba ... aptors.htm

Much of our fan base is willing to let go of Ross also, simply because he's a SG and we have Lou and DD at SG. We've tried Ross at the 3, where usually he's fine, but there's guys like Joe Johnson, Bron, Melo, KD, Tobias, etc, that he doesn't have the size to matchup with. The main reason he's in the starting lineup is for his defense, and 3pt shooting. DD isn't a 3pt shooter and we need the spacing, otherwise I think James Johnson would start at the 3 due to defense. I personally am very high on Ross, but it seems that some on our board are looking for a better fit.

I love me some Larry Sanders but would have to think hard about a trade for Terrence Ross. I seriously doubt that is an actual possibility. But that's at least $.90 on the dollar for Larry if he had no baggage. With Larry's overs-sized suitcase full of baggage it would look awfully nice to me. At worst I see Ross as a top-level 3 and D guy. At best he could be a top 5 shooting guard.

you're nuts if you want to trade Sanders

it would set this team back like 5 years if we're lucky

Henson can NEVER and I mean EVER be our starting center

Jabari and Giannis don't work without an interior defender like Sanders, you don't contend without a guy like Sanders

Just think about how much more optimistic this trade targets thread is. 3 years ago we would have been talking about targeting Corey Maggette.

Being serious, trading Sanders would be the worst mistake this franchise has made since Ray Allen to Seattle. Worse than Tobes. Unless by some miracle we get a really good young interior defender in return, which I doubt.

I'm Rondo's biggest advocate on this board but I don't think he's the right fit for us. I'd rather trade a bunch of assets for Smart, but I think the Celts are already in love with what he brings.

We like a lot of players. It's just that most of the ones we'd want are unattainable because they are featured players on their teams. So we focus on high upside young guys at positions of need who might be currently obstructed on the depth chart. There aren't that many of those guys out there, so the same names come up.

this board just has a hard time letting go of whatever pet prospect they had leading up to the draft

Just as a lot of the board overvalues a lot of players for simply having on a Bucks jersey.
