I'll give you one foregone conclusion why he will.....7.5% raises compared to 4.5%. In a business sense it's pretty easy. Look I get you're enthusiasm and love for the Lakers just like any other poster here, but you gotta fully understand the CBA. Like I said it's way easier for teams to keep their star players than it was prior to the CBA that changed everything after 1999. For example if restricted free agency was in back in 1996 the Lakers wouldn't have ever gotten Shaq. Alonzo Morning would've never gotten away from Charlotte for Miami . Man it was a reason they went to restricted free agency, so teams wouldn't lose their building blocks.LakersDynasty14 wrote:
But why is it a foregone conclusion that he will sign the extension? LA can give him a max contract as well, and he'd probably make a ton more money in endorsements as the face of the Lakers.
Those days are over, guys don't need to depend on any market to expand their brand or do business.LakersDynasty14 wrote:If I was a top 5 NBA player, looking to expand my global brand, the LA Lakers would be the number one place to do it, and I would do whatever it took to make my way to LA.
And here's something you probably didn't even think about in regards to AD, why come here when looking at how the Bulls window will close if Rose doesn't ever get over his injury dilemma....when his 7 years or so is up in New Orleans the Chicago will be ripe for his return home.
