I assume at this point the only waivable players would be Price or Ellington. Price just became fully guaranteed and Ellington becomes guaranteed on Dec 1. I don't anticipate the team waiving either player since history indicates that the Lakers are hesitant to waive guaranteed deals.

Maybe the hardship exception comes into play, but then the waiving issue comes up when Kelly returns. Also, I think Nash's contract might be more valuable as an expiring 9M than a 4.85 DPE. I think the front office wants to dangle it at the trade deadline. If the DPE is used then Nash cannot be used as an expiring, so don't expect the front office to use Nash's DPE.

Most likely, the team gets a hardship exception and uses a portion of Randle's DPE to sign someone from that list of names that worked out with the team.

Indiana just gave 2 10-day contracts to AJ Price

I guess the hardship exception allows for 10 day contracts. Didn't know that. Who could be signed?

Now, to wait only for the $90 DPE for X. We're swimming in DPE money.

This is the time for the Lakers management to be serious... if they don't want this season to end up in the wrong foot. we have a 4.85M exception to use... + Randle injury/Hardship exception....

getting rid of Nash is gonna be a big challenge for this FO.

Only 4 teams over the cap. 2 of them don't give a **** and don't have a pick (Knicks & Nets). The other two are Clippers and Raptors. Clippers likely won't trade with us, Only contracts Raps might dump are Fields, Camby and Hansborough. Fields won't fit the DPE, Camby and Hansborough won't bring them under the cap.

Actually the Nets, if rumors are correct, are trying to dump Karasev and Kirilenko to the sixers to save cash. Supposedly giving the sixers a pick. Maybe we could swing on a similar deal.

Toronto might also want to do the same with Hansbrough who they don't use. Main idea is to get picks. It won't get the raps below the cap but it will still save them double of the player's salary.

Only name that makes sense on that list to me is Kirilenko... Meaning, he seems to be the easiest to get.
