When you insert KJ into the starting lineup.

I don't know the numbers but I do think that our defense is underperforming given our length and athleticism. We should be a much better defensive team than what we are right now. I think that we focused too much on our scoring when in fact, we can always get solid looks with our drive and dish system for our shooters (bid men and perimeter shooters).

We have MCW, McDaniels, Shved, Thompson and LMAM, these guys are good rebounders/defenders for their position. While Noel, Sims, Gordon and Davies should just be more physical and active on the court to grab those rebounds and challenge shots. I do think that their lack of number of fouls shows their lack of physicality and intensity. I mean, Noel should be like Taj Gibson/Farried on defense while Sims/Davies should be like Bill Laimbeer type physical interior defender down there. Hell, we even have Jerami Grant back while Aldemir coming in by next week if the 4 of them gets into foul trouble.
There’s never been a time in history when we look back and say that the people who were censoring free speech were the good guys.

I'm starting to doubt if anyone on this team are good defenders for their position. We lose most of these games due to poor defense, unable to get stops when we need them. People are constantly out of position and I've seen too many passes to big men under the basket for wide open dunks/layups.

The game against the Mavs was sort of a microcosm of why it is so hard for the Sixers to win.

7 turnovers in the 4th compared to zero for the Mavs, missing nearly every shot in the final 6 minutes or so until the game was basically over.

When teams turn up the defensive pressure, the Sixers have no one to turn to for a basket. So unless they hold a good sized lead against a team then it's going to continue to be nearly impossible to win.

They are just too inexperienced to execute on either end. 5 NBA vets with lesser talent will outperform 5 raw rookies on defense and offense. It is not realistic to expect a team this inexperienced to pull off proper defensive rotations, even if on an individual basis they have great defensive potential.

This team could be a dominant defensive team in a few years- although on the offensive/shooting side I'm not nearly as optimistic.

So it's even worse with 5 NBA vets with greater talent...

I remember the announcers making mention of Brett Brown's defensive philosophy last year, and how he wanted to keep it very basic at first due to the amount of player turnover and the lack of experience. Rotations are still very poor and I hate the pick and roll defense, but I'm hopeful that we'll see a framework of something once the rotation is a little more solidified...there have been stretches in some games where certain combinations looked very good defensively.

If these guys can't win in Minnesota on Wednesday then
they will break Nets record because no way they beat
OKC the next game after that.

How are the Sixers so bad, I would have expected this
from the Lakers. They need to make some trades and
put a good show on the floor instead of chasing the
Nets record for futility.

I'm not saying the defense is good or anything, but I'd say we're losing more because we're scoring 6 less points per 100 possessions than the next worst team. There are actually seven teams worse than us at defensive efficiency if you can believe it. We're bad at defense, we're historically awful at offense.

The only vets are Shved and LRMM a/k/a TGFAWDE (the guy from Africa who discovered Embiid), and Shved was never known for being a good defender. Luc supposedly was, but isn't, at least not as a starter.

There are a number of guys on the team with excellent defensive potential, long, athletic, good defensive instincts, but D takes more tie to learn in the NBA than offense and is really hard to play well until a team settles into a set player rotation where guys play together as a unit. With the roster churn and mix and matching to try and get some offense from this group, it makes the look worse than it could be and will be. The best offensive players they have drafted, McCrae, Embiid, Saric, even Pierre Jackson and the PG whose last name begins with an M, are all unavailable all or most of this season. Hence there is offensive talent, but very little of it is playing right now.

Their problems has more to do with the fact that on most
nights Carter-Williams looks like the only guy on the team
who should be in the NBA. The team is that untalented.

Brown should tight the rotation and make the important guys play from the get go,

MCW-Wroten
Shved-Wroten
Thompson-McDaniels
Noel-Mbah a Moute
Sims-Davies

Brett Brown is going to have the worst win-loss % in NBA history for any coach with at least 100 games under their belt.

Already has the worst win/loss % to coach more than 82 games

I think he needs to find a rotation where he has at least two of our four best shooters (KJ, Hollis, Shved and Covington) on the floor at all times. The last few games the small ball approach has provided much better spacing and led to some nice runs. The offense just looks incredibly ugly when MCW, Wroten, LRMAM, Noel and Sims are out there together. They're either dribbling into a crowd or taking low percentage shots from the outside. It's not like that lineup is that much better defensively than the small ball group.

As a wolves fan, I am worried about Wednesday. You guys have a pretty good shot of winning because we are simply terrible.
