They are just too inexperienced to execute on either end. 5 NBA vets with lesser talent will outperform 5 raw rookies on defense and offense. It is not realistic to expect a team this inexperienced to pull off proper defensive rotations, even if on an individual basis they have great defensive potential.
This team could be a dominant defensive team in a few years- although on the offensive/shooting side I'm not nearly as optimistic.
