His blocks are down too -- 1.5 per 100 possessions (a career low for him) vs. 2.3 last season.

His assists are at a career high (yay) at 3.2 per 100 possessions vs. 1.5 last season. But, his turnovers are also at a career high -- 4.7 per 100 possessions vs. 3.7 last season.

In other news, his FG% is now down to 50% (vs. .505 last season and a career average of .485). And, while he's getting to the line a little more often (3.5 FTA per 100 possessions vs. 2.8 last season), he's at a career low in FT% so far (.643 vs. an extremely aberrant (for him) .871 last season).

Folks are seeing signs of progress that don't exist.

Well, it's not quite fair to say that there's been no progress. KS is clearly passing the ball more, as indicated by his improved assist #s, which I consider major progress given that in the past he was essentially a black hole that only knew how to do one thing when he got the ball--shoot. He's also getting to the line more often, which also is a good thing. Although he needs to get his FT% back up.

Again, right now I'm just digging the fact that he's lighter and quicker on his feet. We'll see if that eventually makes a real difference in his #s.

In contrast, I've actually seen Seraphin do some decent rebounding and shotblocking this season precisely because he is lighter and quicker than he's ever been.

OPINION

Blair weighed 310 or more when he was at Pittsburgh. I thought he was a great player then, even more effective than Oklahoma player Blake Griifin.

I think Blair is better a little heavy than he is svelte. Some fighters cut too much weight and they end up body beautiful but weak on fight night.

Kevin looks great. Slimmer, noticeably quicker. But as they saying goes, NEVER CONFUSE ACTIVITY WITH ACHIEVEMENT. Also, I look at performance over time as most predictive of future performance.

Fat Blair can ball. Even slimmer Blair is a helluva lot better baller than Kevin Seraphin.

DeJuan Blair was in a Final Four. Dude started as a ROOKIE for The mother freaking SPURS. Blair played international junior ball and got a gold medal.

In the NBA, Blair has posted SICK good playoffs stats as a reserve.

If Randy Wittman or any other dude doesn’t recognize, then I hope the best Elsewhere for Blair.

At the same time, Kevin Seraphin has great quickness, good leaping ability and timing, and a body for the game. He can score in a variety of ways. He can hold position on the blocks. He can block shots. He is an intimidator, potentially.

Nivek is 100% correct about how good or not good Seraphin is. Yet, I still think Seraphin perhaps should be a PF next to Gortat at C.

I am still intrigued with Kevin.
