If we end up up being a 30-35 win team I have zero interest in re-signing Al this offseason if he opts out of his contract.
I'm not here to bash the guy, I think he can be really valuable if the system as a whole is clicking, but he also doesn't elevate a team offense by himself in the way some other elite scorers can. If we don't sniff the playoffs I see no reason to pay him 10-15 million as he enters his early 30s to run it back again. Letting Al walk gives more minutes for the young guys and takes away one of Clifford's crutches. Unless things turn around quick Al is the easiest major component of our team to change this offseason, and he's the oldest major contributor on the team. Seems like a logical out if we need one.
