It does seem like an odd trade for the Marlins. Perhaps they know something we don't.

Not going to act like I know everything about Heaney. I see he's ranked pretty high etc. etc. but I've never seen him throw.

But…if we end up getting a good starting pitcher out of Dee, I'm fine with it. Love that little guy regardless.

Odd though. We have Kershaw, Ryu and Julio Urias coming up the ranks.
The Dodgers felt the need to get another LHP? I guess you can never have enough [LH] pitching.

oh and I was a proponent of us getting J. Roll.

finally, someone who can defend the position that wont be a total waste at the plate.

or, potentially Urias is getting packaged along with Kemp for that blockbuster trade. if so, Heaney is a clear upgrade over Urias.

if we give a team Kemp and Urias….they better take both Ethier and Carl.

thats prime raw power/ production and the effin future right there.

I don't know that SD has much to offer other than pitching.

nothing that I've truly paid attention to.

Yasmani Grandal.
and the Rangers were rumored to have interest.

whatever the deal, it's supposed to be a mega deal so…..who knows at this point.

never said Urias is not a special talent, but right now Heaney is better, and Major League ready, if needed. Heaney has the size to be a durable inning eater, and stuff to go with his pedigree to be a front of the rotation type in time. this guy is a sure thing.

Urias is a phenom, but very small framed 17 year old kid who hasn't pitched beyond the A ball who is a few years away. Urias could be a lefty Pedro Martinez, but also could be the next Darren Driefort. he is a high risk, high reward type.

both are great prospects, but if this deal is about choosing one over the other, vast majority of the GMs around the league would choose Heaney.

if would be crazy if we dump Crawford's entire salary along with Kemp and Urias possibly going to the Rangers way to pick up Joey Gallo and jorge Alfaro along with whichever the parts that are current major leaguers we can use to fill. that would be crazy. in a scenario like that we probably have to eat equally terrible contract of say, Choo but I prefer Choo over Crawford anyhow. but we would still need to trade Ethier somehow. we pickup a decent relief on top of that, this deal would be pretty awesome for the future. imagine Gallo and Seager in the left side of the infield. then young Jorge catching...

maybe we'll keep both.

who knows.
good thing the Dodgers are winning the Winter Meetings. Stuff hurts but we'll be better for it.
