A 6'9 SF who gets you ~16/7/4 on great efficiency with great wing defense can be more valuable than a less efficient high-scoring guard. For example I'd rather have Kawhi Leonard than Demar Derozan. So you make a good point.
Hmm, I hadn't thought about it like that.
I'm actually not sure I take Leonard over DeRozan in all situations. For a team like Toronto, I think I'd take DeRozan because I need that type of scorer. But a team like San Antonio, where I have some scorers and an advanced system which consistently gets players excellent shots, or even a team like ours where I have a shot creating PG like Wall, I take Leonard.
I'd say that "fit" dynamic might be why I prefer Otto over Oladipo. But then I also think Otto is a better shot creator than Oladipo too. Otto being so good scoring at the rim and from mid range is such a big part of his value to me. That mid range game is a rare scoring tool in a young player and it adds a dimension to the offense defenses have to account for.
I can't get over how well Otto has shot so far. He's over 60% from mid range and .714 at the rim is pretty awesome too. Plus .444 on threes. His 119 ORtg is the best on the team by far. He's essentially a rookie for us this season given how little we used him last year, and if Otto could qualify as a rookie this season like Noel, he'd be running away with the ROTY award. I can't wait to see the offense when Beal gets back and these two share the floor together. Wall is going to have some weapons.
