He can shoot free throws at his size, great touch and he has away better offensive back to the basket game than Gobert.
I think Gobert could be another McGee or Hibbert, but i think Len has a shot at being another Noah.
I disagree, McGee is a very bad example, because he is typical of those very big guys who think they can do it all and try too much. Lots of the big men flops in the last few years have been those type of guys, 7 footers who think they can shoot the 3 ball, dribble behin the back, etc, and don't know or learn what being a true 5 means.
Gobert is the opposite of that, he is playing extremely withing himself, focussing first and foremost on his big man job (defense, blocks, rebounds, boxing out, PnR defense, pick setting on offense, crashing the offensive glass) and only in a second step trying to extend his game (that back to the basket move where he made Gasol foul him, etc...). This is what you want from your center. First do the job and then expand. The Bargnanis, the Milicics, etc. All these guys never could nor wanted to master the foundamentals of the 5 position but wanted to "play", be face up guys, etc... they never made it work.
I am not here knocking on Len or anything, I just mean to focus on Gobert here. He is doing things in the right order for a 5, and this is very good : expand your game from the bottom up, not building the roof first.
