Coach K gotta give him a breather.

Not having a 1on1 wing hurts in this situations.
They need more out of Grayson Allen or Winslow.
Sulaimon is playing good today though, they should give him the ball more.

The guards are awful, props to NcSt though, their guards are quickcats out there, really bothering Tyus.

I'll say this though with the way Big Al is playing & the comparisons between the two I wonder if his game is outdated. A lot of people look at him as a throwback to the big post guy in the paint but it's like using a brick phone in 2014.

Big Al hasnt been dominant in this league either and it's primarily due to his lack of versatile scoring and his defense....both traits that dont bode well for Okafor. That type of game may very well be outdated.

The NBA has moved on to bigs who can stretch the floor, handle the rock in traffic, and chase down shots on the other end.

Marc Gasol is a top3 Center in the game, Okafor is a better offensive player with similar defensive ceiling.
Gasol at age 19 was a fat guy that couldnt even leave the bench for Barça.
He didnt flourish until he was 21-22 and got in shape.

Duke is shooting 3-14 from 3, NBA teams wont.

Okafor is playing good, the rest of the team is not.

I havent seen a single assist. And this isnt a powerhouse they're playing with a dominant big, who is their center?

The only thing really missing from Jahlil's game is the mid range jumper that Marc has

at the same stage? much better, he is a better finisher too, better athlete, more explosive, stronger
Gasol improved this season but he was a poor scorer due to his limited abilities as a finisher near the basket, he got in even better shape last offseason and he is been more explosive, but he struggles to finish close to the basket.

Gasol is a better passer as of now, and he is always been a smart player, and he got length on Okafor, I think he is more agile now too, but Okafor is a much better offensive prospect than Gasol.

Duke is playing dumb, letting NCSt. run and not getting the ball to Jahlil, terrible guard play today.

Can we at least table this until when Okafor actually plays in the NBA? I'm nopt a Gasol fan, but the man imo has earned the right to not be compared to guys who havent even stepped on an NBA court yet.

This is the thing though it's beyond crazy to compare these two when one hasn't even played a minute of NBA basketball.

Gasol IMO benefitted from playing in Europe where it's basically going against grown men & playing ball the right way like Kobe said.

As far as comparing the two offensively as prospects you're comparing a guy who was widely thought of for his post game to one where scouts sought after him for his range, his IQ & his court vision. That's already better than whatever offense Jahlil is known for. There is more to basketball than being able to throw jump hooks & shimmy in the paint.

Incredible dumb guard play today, and also Winslow who is always steady and calm, is just rushed, surprising.

I've watched a few Duke games, but this clearly one of the game I shouldnt have watched the entire game of.

Duke doesnt defend that's their downfall. You can't rely on shots throughout the game, sometimes they wont go in.

I've been wanting Towns for years now (since seeing him play team USA in 2012) and I've been Towns > Jah-Rule for a minute but Jahlil is a monster and I've changed my mind. He doesn't really remind me of someone like Al Jefferson because Al is less athletic and smaller (Al has PF size and Jah is just as big as Demarcus Cousins) or Eddy Curry (he's way more in shape than Eddy who was 300 coming out of high school) but he does remind me of Bynum when he was 21/22 years old.

And that's as a 18 year old college student with no NBA experience.

I think Jahlil could average 16/8 or 18/10 next year (I'm never going to expect a 19 year old to average 20/10 - hasn't happened yet and won't any time soon) while showing the potential to be the best offensive bigman in the game one day.

I can't think of anyone I've ever seen his age with the touch he has around the rim and the footwork. The last big I saw that was this good at scoring was Demarcus and he's averaging 24 ppg now.
