Also just noticed Rosenthal is wearing a bow tie in his avatar.

Has built a pretty good team in Baltimore. Why is there an uncomfortable situation over there?

Wonder what the compensation will be? I am guessing nothing big at all.
Maybe Stilson?

Duquette built three very good teams (early-90's Expos, late-90's Red Sox, and recent Orioles), and he is a baseball guy unlike Beeston. So chances are he will green light certain baseball moves, or at least is more likely to, than Beestn probably would. That's just a guess on my part though. I can't imagine AA has much time left if this happens, unless the team makes the playoffs in 2015, as DD is likely connected enough in the game to have his own guy in mind for GM.

I agree, this might be why time has stood still this off-season and nothing has been done since the Saunders trade. Beeston leaving the organization will be a great day.

Man, this organization is messed up. It definitely looks Rogers is undercutting AA here. In any case, they better not give up anything of actual value for Duquette.

AA is definitely going to get the short end of this. At least he made some good moves in his last hurrah, if it is in fact nearing the end for him. I can't see any scenario where AA stays if Duquette is brought in.

Who is negotiating the deal from the Jays side?
That's the interesting question.

No idea. How could AA reasonably participate in negotiations to acquire the guy who will essentially replace him as top baseball authority in the organization? Bit of a conflict of interest.

Not in the long-term anyway. I doubt AA aspires to only be the #2 baseball guy in an organization.

Nothing like some off field BS shortly before Spring Training. Beeston should have said something weeks ago if he wanted out.

Did they have that fancy meeting for season ticket holders yet, where Beeston and AA sit in fancy leather chairs on top of the Jays dugout?

apparently MLB acts as an arbitrator on matters like this, doesn't really matter, we're not giving up anything valuable, at best they'll get a fringe B-/C+ prospect

9. Similarly, IF THOU HAST SPENT the entire offseason predicting that thy team will stink, thou shalt not gloat, nor even be happy, shouldst thou turn out to be correct. Realistic analysis is fine, but be a fan first, a smug smarty-pants second.

You'd have to even more assume AA has nothing to do with it, then. It's probably Rogers and Angelos doing the negotiations.

There are conflicting reports about whether a deal to let Duquette out of his Oriole contract is close. Some, like Morosi, say no, others say a deal is imminent.
