Because he hasn't shown enough of what you'd want to see from a 19 year old such that it has likely given some in the organization about whether he was the right pick. Especially in light of the fact that there was no college season to rely on, it likely has given people in the organization even more doubt, since it required even more blind faith than drafting your normal 19 year old.
Not sure they'd move him ultimately, but my guess is that some in the org would be open to listening.
They won't move him. I can't even think of the last time a lotto pick was moved inseason his first year. Chauncy Billips twenty years ago? Probably some guy on a good win now team I'm forgetting but my point is it just doesn't really happen very often. Staukas is reportedly available but the Kings are a weird team that does weird stuff so I consider that an anomaly (and he probably won't end up traded)
Even if a guy is struggling and behind closed doors there's regret in taking him it's hard to admit a mistake that quickly. Plus realistically most rookies are bad; some way worse than others. Teams know this and for the most part look for a jump in year 2 once they have a full season of NBA coaching and conditioning. Now if that player is failing year two then organizations will look to cut bait.
