Because if we missed we would've had time to get a offensive rebound or play the fouling game. The only time it's best to run the clock down for the last shot is if you're tied where the worst that can happen is OT.

Don't need that much time to get a rebound off a miss, wait five to ten more seconds. I guess I can see the fouling situation, but if you're down two and you start fouling with 14 seconds left the game is pretty much over anyway. Would much rather be the one taking the last shot out of a set play.

That's not smart basketball unless we were a tanking team with nothing to lose against one of the top teams in the league where we knew we couldn't stand a chance in OT.

You're suggesting bad situational basketball. A team should never hold for the last shot when they are down, regardless if it's 1, 2, or 3 points

Not sure I agree, but will concede maybe I'm wrong. Given our terrible defense from the middle of the 3rd quarter and especially down the stretch, I had no confidence we'd be able to get a stop on the Pacers' last possession since they had a timeout and 14 seconds to run a play.

I can understand the argument though that if you don't score and lose possession then that's game over. Still wish we would have milked at least five more seconds off the clock. A PNR with Marvin was always going to be there, they weren't guarding him tightly all game.

Nobody should have a problem with us taking that early shot. It was a bad shot, but he made it, but it wasn't bad because he took it with 14 seconds, just not really open.

I think the biggest problem of the entire last play was that Zeller allowed Hill to turn the corner and get to the baseline.

Completely agree, and Cliff said as much in his post-game presser. Once you give up the baseline in that situation, someone is getting an open shot.

What a horrible loss. If they get PG back then they may eventually pass us in the standings.
