Doesn't matter though, he's going to sign the highest available deal because he's a RFA.

Really getting ahead of myself but damn I'd love him to say that, then sign in NYK and watch us win a championship while he loses in the big apple. Let's see which way it goes.

How pissed off would you be if he was offered less to play here than NY and he chose to stay in MIL?

Given he's seen as a near 'all-star' talent around the league, I'll be impressed, would set a good precedent for future free agents if someone knocked back money in ny to stay in Milwaukee. Depending on how much we did offer I'd probably be cool with it.

Wonder if there is any way we could get the Jazz into an Ersan and Mayo for Kanter and Burks deal.

http://espn.go.com/nba/tradeMachine?tradeId=q2y9tyz

Burks fits well next to Knight in the back court in terms of defense, and I do not share the same beliefs that many of you do that a lineup of Giannis and Parker needs a set up PG. I feel the best person to play the PG role on this team is a scoring guard who can do that efficiently, and that player is Knight.

Next year we could start Burks, Knight, Middleton, Giannis, Kanter with a bench of Marshall, Bayless, Parker, Dudley, Henson. Allow Parker to ease his way back into the lineup and get his bearings straight. Once ready, we can look into further roster tweaking, but I like the defense that Burks brings to the table and think he would be a worthwhile piece.

I think the pros to this deal for the Jazz would be salary clearance after next year as opposed to Burks at 4 more years and then the headache of dealing with Kanter when Gobert and Favors are clearly their best big men. Adding Ersan to come off the bench makes much more sense for this team, especially with their play style.

*Yes, I know Burks is out for the season, which is why I would not mind trying to get him low like this offer does*

The Jazz are in more of a rebuild than Milwaukee is. I don't see them moving two young pieces (One of which they really like and just signed long term) for two vets that don't do anything for them in terms of moving the needle. They would be looking for 1st round picks or prospects for either Kanter or Burks.

Secondly, there is no way Parker ever comes off the bench. I definitely understand it from your point of view and it would make a ton of sense to ease him back, but from a marketing standpoint, they are likely to throw him back out there once he's ready as opposed to easing him in. He's the face of this franchise and if the casual fan see's him sitting after just drafting him #2, I could just see the uproar from fans not understanding and labeling him as a bust already.

I think he'd be an upgrade over Zaza/Henson/JOB. Realistically the pick isn't going to be great, probably in the range of that you can just straight up by the pick so a guy on a bargain contract that can help us win the next 2 years would be a good use.

Interesting. I also have been thinking about whether Mayo fits here moving forward.

Don't know enough about Burks to have a fully formed opinion, but I do think we need a playmaker who is great in pick and rolls and on the fast break at PG.

Part of why I could see OJ being moved is that his role becomes harder to justify if we are going to resign Middleton and Knight (much less Dudley). Both of them (in my opinion) should be logging an increasing number of minutes at the 2.

We need a 1 who can let Knight play more off the ball to do this though. I would be very wary about Burks' contract if we don't think he's that player.

On the flipside if we do think he compliments Knight and Middleton in the back court (or if one of them is moving on...) then this would be just the sort of calculated risk oriented towards the future that we hope our team is willing to take.

Agree rafer, I just think we need to be looking at all the buy low options, whether or not they are the ideal fit. Continue to improve the overall collection of assets in house.

The biggest need is Center, but outside of Kanter (who isnt even an ideal fit) there just is not much available right now. Think this means the Bucks hang on to both Henson and Zaza even though I think they could sell high on both of them right now.

I don't view Mayo as superfluous. He has created major bench scoring for the most part of the season, and it is not something that I view Burks as an immediate filler for. Kanter is also not a guarantee to be anything more than a bum that can rebound. I think Ersan for Stauskas and Thompson is a no brainer. I don't think Kanter is a solution, he needs to have shown something by now.

Isn't Burks injured ? Not sure why we'd do that deal. Jazz would say no anyway.

I think some people are overrating our players. Teams aren't going to give anything up to get Ersan. He's not a floor-spacing big anymore, he's an injury-prone over the hill forward who is shooting sub-30% from beyond the arc over the past two seasons. Nobody is trading for Larry Sanders right now because his situation is too cloudy. Jared Dudley is a very nice piece for any team but he's not fetching a 1st. Brandon Knight could net a 1st but the owners aren't doing that based on their recent comments about him.

I could see Dudley fetching a late first or non-rotation young guy from a playoff team.

plumlees a serviceable big. He's kind of Dan gatzerich with a little better offensive game. While I do think he'd help the bucks I wouldn't trade that clips pick for him because I'd rather keep it and use it as part of a package for a more meaningful player. Now for a real contender who's thin up front trading a late 1st for him could make some sense but the bucks aren't there yet.

yeah I can't see the bucks doing that. Funny that package is brought up because I could actually see some form of that Nogueira and fields for plumlee and green deal happen this week. Gives the raps some extra fire power for a playoff run and for the suns gives them a intriguing big in Nogueira who's on his rookie deal longer than plumlee and moves green (who I doubt they want to resign) to open up minutes for their young guys like Goodwin and warren.

I'm not advocating this but putting it out there for board consumption and critique.

Ersan, JOB and the Clips 1st to PHX for Isiah Thomas, Plumlee and a 2nd.

I don't watch enough of Thomas this year and whether he's too undersized to work defensively or too much a chucker. But he's got quickness and a three ball and his contract is probably now market to below market with the new TV deal. Plumlee is the true big you can put in there to bang.

Again, not advocating but looking for commentary.

I agree with all this, I just find it funny that a 27 year old can be called over the hill. Usually a basketball player's prime is approximately 26-31.
