Henson isn't a legit starting NBA center moving forward, this position definitely needs to be addressed in the off season some way and this won't be easy to fix. There appears to be a a few big pg's in this draft, if Knight is kept it will be important for the Bucks to get a long pg so knight can move to the 2 spot.

I dunno, defensively Kanter looks like Henson without shot blocking ability. Offensively his usage is very high compared to Henson. His TS% is sitting around .535 on the season, and his usage is ~25.1%. Henson is at .608 TS and 18.2% usage. I think that at this moment that Henson is the more useful player, and that if we trade for Kanter it would be in hopes that he continues to develop.

Doesn't seem like we're trading Middleton IMO.

Sometimes the reward is in the process. I still remember when Europa thought he heard we were trading RJ and Ridnour to Portland for Raef, Travis Outlaw and Sergio Rodriquez or some variation of it at the deadline in 2009. We went 30 pages in an hour on that one.

His name was RLEC.

Ah yes, just like WSEC who played with Cleveland that year as well.

Again, are the strong negative feelings regarding Kanter's play based on actually watching Utah Jazz basketball? Or are the strong negative feelings based on box scores and advanced stats? Again, not trying to be a di*k, just trying to make sense of these opinions.

I agree but I don't think the twitter feed has much of any insider track on what's being discussed

Milwaukee gets: Joel Freeland, Bargnani's expiring (waived)
Portland gets: Ersan Ilyasova, Bucks 2nd.
New York gets: Thomas Robinson, Johnny O'Bryant.

Sam Amick is saying Reggie Jackson turned down Kemba Walker money from OKC already and is aiming for a bigger offer.

All that chart tells me is Middleton needs to be getting more MPG. He's earned it.
We're going to turn this team around 360 degrees.

If we think Kanter will change his approach or we've identified some way we can develop him the jazz aren't, and we can mold him into a 2 way player, I'm fine with taking a chance on that assuming we're not giving up a core piece to get him. I think the chances are good you'll see a spike in his effort at least for this season considering he's going from a tanking roster to a playoff team, and its a contract year.

Whether that extends into future years or his effort goes back to being erratic as hell is another question.

Paying either Henson or Kanter big money scares me given their spotty history with their commitment to basketball.

If I was GM I would trade Middleton for LeBron. According to that chart we can get it done!

The issue is that Kanter isn't a legit starting NBA center, but will likely be paid as if he's one starting next summer. With Henson you at least have one more season to see if he takes a leap before you have to make a decision on giving him a big contract.

Yeah, I don't understand the obsession with Kanter I guess. He has some intriguing talents, but he has been in the league for a while and he looks like a poor defensive 10/10 guy. Maybe we feel like we can turn him into something else, or we think he moves well, but any move that brings him in should be taken with a grain of salt because we are hoping for a player he isn't at Utah.

I'm amazed the Thunder even offered him that kind of coin. No way we trade for him unless Knight's going out, and even then, that'd be a mistake if he wants more than $12 mil per year. Jackson is delusional.

Still scary how much these middling players around the league think they should be paid like stars. They're used to having so many "yes men" around them that they're constantly put on a pedestal.

No way in hell I pay Reggie Jackson Kemba Walker-money. Kemba Walker isn't even worth Kemba Walker money.

Middleton's shot is elite now. When you can tell me what Kanter does that's elite, I'll be all ears.

Middleton shot at this rate for 45 games last year as well, then fell of quite a bit.

I do like Middleton, said that numerous times, but Kanter could become a 18-9 guy, and the paint is important.

Pay Middleton 10m to shoot, or pay Kanter 10m to rebound and score, I will pay the guy who gives me more than one thing. I do not believe this hype on Middleton on the defensive end personally, because I have faith that the system is what makes these guys look good, not their individual talents.

I agree that Middleton's defense has been overrated at this point. Though if he is a product of the system, then he must be a good fit for it, no? That being said, he is no longer strictly a catch and shoot type on the offensive end. Every game he posts up at least once and I don't know what his FG% off of post ups and turn a rounds is but it has to be pretty high. His ball handling is poor and I doubt that will ever be a strength for him but with Giannis and Knight on this team he doesn't need to be a stellar ball handler. Comparing the skills of two players with drastically different positions and game plans is a futile exercise.
