The explanation on that Lakers pick sounds good if they hadn't given it up for Brandon Knight. And the chance that they pick 4 is much higher than 30. Especially given Mitch's documented desire to not speed up the rebuild.

Giving up a lottery pick for the right to give Brandon Knight the max in 30 games will be an unequivocally horrible-looking move in due time. We're just not at this stage yet because PHX fans are still in the rationalization stage.

I'm sort of surprised that the Kings have so few votes. Cousins is still the best player on any of these teams, and I don't see much evidence that any of the other teams have guys that project to be better. Embiid for example, hopes one day he can be as good as Cousins, but no guarantee he'll get there. Kinda like how Blazers fans said they'd take Oden over Dwight because of potential, after that draft.

Because Cousins is really all they have. Stauskas looks bad so far, Mclemore is all right. They've had three coaches this season already. Tough to put much trust into their future when their front office has shown so much incompetence.

But yeah, Cousins is the best player on any of these teams. Having him is the only thing that even gets them in the conversation.

Even if Sac only has 1 player (what about Gay on a decent contract?), who is the 2nd player the 76ers have? They don't have a #1 guy that has proven anything, or a #2 guy that has proven anything, or a #3 guy that proven anything. Mclemore may not be great, but has someone like Wroten proven to be all that much better?

Problem with 76ers is, they don't even for sure have a good #1, #2, #3 option. And, even if they get lucky and 2 out of their top 3 guys pan out, then what do they have after that? Brandon Davies,? Hollis Sims? Even if they end up with 2 quality players they still have absolutely zero quality players to go around them. Good teams like Chicago, Toronto San Antonia, Atlanta, etc.. don't just have 2 guys, they have about 8 or 9 guys that can play, with a couple being really good. 76ers are a million miles away imho.

Out of your young core there isn't very many attractive pieces. I'd love MKG and Biyombo because of their defensive specialties. No one on there really is screaming All Star though, unless All Star injuries become more and more frequent.

I excluded the Lakers, Knicks and Celtics because of their ability to draw stars due to their big city or rich tradition lure. So out of these teams listed, which one do you think has the brightest future looking at the next 5 years, and why?

I said Jazz barely over Timberwolves and 76ers.

Now first, those other two teams have the prospects with the most potential, and thus could very easily end up with the best future, but when I do future rankings, I try to think about floor as well as ceiling.

I think the Jazz have done a fantastic job putting together a solid core of Hayward-Favors-Gobert which seems like it has to be pretty good, won't die if just one player has a career ending injury, and seems likely to have a particularly good relationship with their players based on how they've done things with them, and the knowledge of how they treated players in the past.
