I feel as the story is transitioning from them being on the run to a more civilized setting which can lead to better character development and give the writers a chance to explore these character's in more depth. I am also a avid fan so I might be coming off as a homer, but I am intrigued by where the story is going.
Here's what happens in the source material.Spoiler:
Arrrghhh why did I click on the spoiler sign..LOL. But seriously though I've read all the comics up to this point and I understand what you are saying, but there are some variables that you are forgetting that might add some spice to the story. Judith, Carol, Daryl, "Everybody Hates Chris", and Sasha were never in the comic. I know that your main qualm with the show is the story line and how close it mirrors the comic, but I have to say the show is still highly entertaining to me at least. And I know people just don't tune in to watch the Zombies. I feel like it has more to do with the struggle these characters go thru and the people they lose along the way, which strikes a cord with most people as a story about hope and life continuing amongst death. I think that's what have people intrigued because it's a question of how will they work up the strength to carry on heart ache after heart ache. It's really a tale of being Strong and staying loyal to your Family while surviving a Zombie Apocalypse.
