Trying to play guys out of position isn't necessary. We are sitting right where the top threes are going in the draft . And then we've got a good bit of cap, with Monroe likely walking and hopefully moving Jennings.
the thing I don't like about moving Jennings is that his trade value would be significantly lowered by his injury and only having one year remaining on his contract. teams aren't going to give up a lot of assets for an $8 million point guard who will likely take most of the year to get back up to speed, and then he's gone. that said, SVG could simply trade him for whatever he can get as he's shown he is willing to simply 'move on' from players if they won't work (josh smith anyone?).
I think KCP can more than hold his own against small forwards, and I don't think reggie Jackson would do any worse guarding SG's than meeks does. I don't see anybody complaining about meeks guarding shooting guards...
personally I think it's a mistake to pidgeon-hole players into specific positions. basketball is becoming much more position-less and is instead being focused on the roles of the system. what can't KCP do as well that the average starting small forward can? if you start to think of them as 'wing players' instead of 'SG and SF' then you will see that a lot of their roles are similar.
if we could sign a player like danny green (just an example), then would you seriously have a problem with him and KCP playing together? obviously the biggest reservation now would be if Jackson or Dinwiddie could guard shooting guards but I personally don't think it would be that big of a problem.
