The numbers are great and he's been a big contributor throughout the season, but the snarky dismissive attitude towards people questioning his effectiveness is a bit uncalled for in my opinion. Despite the numbers, he fails to pass the eye test quite frequently. When I watch Pau, I start to get very antsy if he isn't scoring. I think he has to be treated with a quicker hook than he usually is because if he's not getting you points, he's hurting you on the other end of the floor. He may get blocks, but never if they're a step out of the airspace he immediately occupies when an opponent makes his move to the rim. His lack of mobility, the way he sags so far back on pick and rolls, his infuriating lapses in boxing out and coughing up offensive boards for the opposing team all go a long way towards negating the very impressive stats he puts up. Last night's monster putback was emblematic of the season he's had; it just barely edged out the horribly blown play on the other side of the ball moments before.
Of course, having said all that, he's still having a pretty good season and we've absolutely needed his scoring at times, especially with the injuries and all. Also, I really suspect that he's helped facilitate Niko's transition to the NBA and America in general. I guess I just felt like being a bit of a Debbie Downer. Sorry.
