Or (2) the team is not properly constructed which means the GM is not doing his job of assembling a good roster.
How many should that be ?
Its always been an interesting side to EG tenor with the Wizards. It doesn't explain everything but it shouldn't be ignored either.
E Jordan was Abe's pick. That was for 5 years. Felt like longer. lol
Flip - EG's pick under Abe - But Flips stay was under weird conditions because injuries, Gungate, and team sold and blown up.
Randy was an Interim transfer from Flip that got extended because he installed a top D, Wall support, and got to the 2nd round.
Almost all of his term under Abe was with EFJ who was Abe's hire and Abe's guy not EGs. Which was a problem from the start. EG tried to bring in Thibs but it didn't work out. At least you can see the kind of coach he would have picked.
So that's a really mixed bag to do a head count on coaches he hired. One legit hire that was under Abe who was them fired after coaching the Gungate Wizards year, the blow up rebuild the following year, which was year one Ted. Then 17 games into the following year let go while still under contract. Flip got some hot steam stuff and never really stood a chance. That turns into Flip's assistant interim turned extended short contract after 2nd round playoffs last year. And a failed attempt to get Thibbs.
Makes you kind of appreciate some of the vanilla moves for stability over the last two years. Things were kind of a hot mess.
Whatever the time is for the next head coach, it should be under much better conditions for that coach then any of this mess.
