Wouldn't even make that much of a difference if he did, deltoids aren't big muscles.
The biggest muscles are the gluteus maximus, latissimus dorsi and satorius.
so if Russell wanted to add more mass to his body, he would have to focus on his butt, back and thighs.
That's simply for mass gaining.
Strengthening and increasing the size of the deltoids/shoulders will make it easier to keep the players arms up for defense or to shoot the ball. Tone the triceps and biceps to increase the endurance for shooting. Appropriate exercises include triangle pushups, biceps curls, dips, tricep extensions and lateral raises. etc Not for gaining weight. The deltoid isn't a big muscle.
