In regards to Marshawn Lynch,

:D

I was snooping the earliest threads on the forum to see the history of the board and came across this.

Well it was Friday the 13th.

Could you imagine if we drafted Justin Harrell over Lynch?

Also, could you imagine not trading a 4th round pick for Lynch when he is in his prime? Wait a minute we made that mistake. :banghead:

It turned out to be Seattle's 4th and 5th the next year. GB would have had to give up a little more that that, a 3rd would have gotten it done. Buffalo wound up with tackle Chris Hairston and linebacker Tank Carder. The first guy was/is a scrub and the 2nd guy never played a down and was cut.

Lynch was the 12th pick taken in the Draft. He was only 24 and had already been to a Pro Bowl when the Bills traded him.

AR played with him in college and lobbied hard for the Pack to trade for him (much like Favre lobbied for Moss). Ted just values his damn picks too much - the old codger- missed out both times.

So who did Ted draft with the 3rd round pick in the 2011 Draft? He got his RB - Alex Green. Released by Pack in 2013. His career totals were 510 yards with a 3.4/avg.

I like Lacy a lot - he is a younger version of Lynch (maybe not quite as good at this stage). The Packers really lacked a high quality back though before they got Lacy - probably going back to Ahman Green in his prime (probably could include Grant). They used the 3rd on Green and eventually a 2nd on Lacy and 4th on Franklin and suffered for a few years - in 2011 Grant and Starks had a little over 500+ yards. 2012 was really a bad year- Alex Green's only one of some note - he led the Packers with 464 yards (3.4/carry). In 2013 - they finally landed that quality back - he ran for over 1,110 yards (4.1/) and was named OROY. The Packers went 4 years without a 1k rusher (or even close) from Grant to Lacy.

Just off the top of my head and going off higher rounds....

Major Flops that I thought would be awesome:
Mandarich
Buckley
Robert Ferguson. Talent seemed to be there.
Harrell. Really thought that guy was gonna be beast when/if healthy.

Decent but Didn't reach level I thought...
Bubba Franks. He had a decent career but thought he was the next Keith Jackson. Heard he was a huge pothead though.
Hawk. Solid player, but never the beast we thought. Thought he'd be a CM3 type.
Javon Walker. Arguably the most talented WR since Sterling Sharpe but mentally not there & bad advisors.
Derrick Mayes. Guy could make the incredible catch but was never consistent.

Bad Luck...
Terrence Murphy. Some said he would've been awesome.

Random nugget, Torrence Marshall has a son that tore it at RB for a West De Pere the past couple years. Think he is going to D2 school though in college.

OTHER TEAMS: I thought Andre Wadsworth would be awesome. I remember Wolf saying something like that was the only player he thought of trading his whole draft for when he came out. I have been pretty good at predicting QBs, but thought Akili Smith would be really good and wasn't real high on McNabb.

Yea, i also thought Wadsworth would be a pass rushing beast.
