It turned out to be Seattle's 4th and 5th the next year. GB would have had to give up a little more that that, a 3rd would have gotten it done. Buffalo wound up with tackle Chris Hairston and linebacker Tank Carder. The first guy was/is a scrub and the 2nd guy never played a down and was cut.
Lynch was the 12th pick taken in the Draft. He was only 24 and had already been to a Pro Bowl when the Bills traded him.
AR played with him in college and lobbied hard for the Pack to trade for him (much like Favre lobbied for Moss). Ted just values his damn picks too much - the old codger- missed out both times.
So who did Ted draft with the 3rd round pick in the 2011 Draft? He got his RB - Alex Green. Released by Pack in 2013. His career totals were 510 yards with a 3.4/avg.
I like Lacy a lot - he is a younger version of Lynch (maybe not quite as good at this stage). The Packers really lacked a high quality back though before they got Lacy - probably going back to Ahman Green in his prime (probably could include Grant). They used the 3rd on Green and eventually a 2nd on Lacy and 4th on Franklin and suffered for a few years - in 2011 Grant and Starks had a little over 500+ yards. 2012 was really a bad year- Alex Green's only one of some note - he led the Packers with 464 yards (3.4/carry). In 2013 - they finally landed that quality back - he ran for over 1,110 yards (4.1/) and was named OROY. The Packers went 4 years without a 1k rusher (or even close) from Grant to Lacy.
