That's a really great plan. One question though. Where are they going to get those 3 legit bodies from? It's funny reading posts saying how they shouldn't tank and how they shouldn't trade derozan or lowry but at the same time they want great players added to the roster. The NBA doesn't work with magic wishes. People yell "Trade ROSS! TRADE ROSS!" but what exactly do you think you'll get back for him? You expect them to get a legit starting SF for the guy which is ludicrous. No one in the nba is going to give up a good player for Ross. If you trade Ross all you're getting back is the same kind of player. As sad as it is, the only assets the Raptors have are Derozan and Lowry, and again, trading them will only get players of similar value back so you're still at square one.
The only way to rebuild in the NBA is to tank and get lucky with draft picks. Don't believe me? The only time the Raptors were legit good was when they got Vince Carter and Tracy McGrady in the draft. You've seen what this team is like when they try to build through free agents and trades. It hasn't worked and it will never work in the future.
Tank it for a few seasons and hope to get lucky with great draft picks. Then cultivate your young talent and build something with potential to entice free agents. I honestly for the life of me can't understand why you people are so against tanking for a top pick. Do you really enjoy watching your team floundering every season? Do you really think it's worth it for them to go to the playoffs so they can play an extra 4 to 7 games? Then next year they're right back to being the mediocre team that they are?
Tanking isn't a guarantee and draft picks aren't a guarantee but it definitely has more potential than winning the division in the worst division in the worst conference in the league and getting ousted in the first round by LOWER seeded teams. They could have tanked 2 seasons ago and had a shot at Wiggins. Now Wiggins may be a bust but I sure as hell would have loved to have had him on the team for the mere chance at a bright future than be stuck with the mediocrity that Toronto chose to have instead all so they could get embarrassed by a 6 seed in 7 games and then trounced by a 5 seed in 4. Wow. They really made out great by not tanking.
