Comparing him to Gregg Popovich doesnt make Babcock overrated lmao cmon now.
Theres no point of comparing him to Popovich anyways. Fact still remains that Mike Babcock is currently the Best, if not top 3, hockey coaches in the world today. His resume speaks for himself. Not only in the NHL, but for team canada as well.
You seem mad because people are just comparing him to Popovich. Its 2 different sports. He might as well be the closest popovich we have in the NHL. it doesnt take waya antyhing from Popovich himself
People comparing him to Popovich DOES make him overrated. I'm not saying he's not a good coach. You can be both good and overrated. I honestly think there are a half dozen coaches in the league on his level though.
You think there are a half dozen coaches in the NHL on his level?? Yeah lets just end it there because i completely disagree.
Btw how big of a hockey fan are you and how long have you been watching the NHL?
Ken Hitchcock, Alain Vignealt, Darryl Sutter, Joel Quennville, Claude Julien, Bruce Boudreau,. This is just off the top of my head. All these coaches have had more playoff and regular season success in the last 5 years and 3 have won cups while Babcock won his only cup 7 years ago. Don't forget Randy Carlyle has also won a Cup. Didn't help.
Babcock is a good coach but he is not a Popovich, gimme a break. He has one playoff round win in the last 4 years. He won 2 gold medals but let's be honest, any half decent coach would have done the same with a star studded Canadian squad. All you have to do is say "go out and play".
He'll last 4 or 5 years before he's gone. There is a severe abesence of talent on the Leafs that even he can't fix. And he'll be good enough to get the Leafs to 9th or 10th in the conference next year which is the worst thing that could happen because they will get middle of the road draft picks and never increase thier talent. This is gonna be a classic treadmill team. The managment team is terrible for the Leafs so it's not like they can bring talent in via trade. Remember how Brian Burke was the savoir? That didn't work out too well
