I understand he has no offensive game but we don't need him for that. Tyson didn't have a offensive game either and won a ring with the mavs. Its all about how you build the team. WCS is more athletic than Tyson and has better defense, hopefully he doesn't have small p*ssy hands like him lol
Chandler didn't become good until he teamed with Chris Paul in NO and all he had to do was catch oops. then just had to worry about defense when he played with Dirk in his prime. Unfortunately, the current system does not call for such possibilities. I always go by the rule that if you pick in the top 5, you better draft the player that projects to score 20ppg.
And that's not to say those skills still aren't valuable. One doesn't have to hate WCS to believe that it's be best to....In your analogy.......try to find your Dirk before settling for Tyson. That's not being a hater that's just good business sense with this high a pick. The phrase go-to must be associated with a pick this high in my opinion.
Also, what's the antithesis of potential? Nba readiness right? Well often since Stein is three years in and didn't have the ceiling of Towns and some other prospects, I think people assume then he must be nba ready. I don't think that's the case. I think he'll have just a hard time as everyone else except the difference is his ceiling is lower. The guy weighs 240 at C. Who is he pushing off the block. This is why people keep saying he could play PF which is an option but then again he can't score. So its not gonna be easy. He'll develop possibly faster but that's cuz he's already older and doesn't have far to reach. Hustle and board, that's it.
We wouldn't tolerate just that from KAT for example. We'd be waiting for much more.
So all these, we need a defensive C so let's grab WCS. I'm not against that, but it's a long term shift not like he's gonna solve our defense great one.
