Of course, why the **** wouldn't you want him though? Karl is a moron.
Kings wins in the last 7 years:
2009 - 17
2010 - 25
2011 - 24
2012 - 22
2013 - 28
2014 - 28
2015 - 29
What I don't understand is why everyone is acting like Cousins is some kind of savior. He hasn't shown he is a difference maker on the level of Lebron, Durant, or Davis. Anthony Davis went to a worse situation than the Kings and he has his team on the cusp of being a 50 win team in the West. Look at the Pelicans win totals since Davis came on board:
2013 - 27
2014 - 34
2015 - 45
Now these are not apples to apples situations but can anyone legitimately say Monty Williams is a better coach than any of the past Kings coach's or that the Pelicans have significantly better talent than the Kings? Plus it is not as is Demarcus does not come with his own issues on the court as well. I do not see Cousins name anywhere leading in the advanced metrics, if you are making an argument for Cousins it's based purely on PPG and REB.
Demarcus is not found in the top 20 in the following:
VORP
WS (offensive nor defensive)
DRtg
ORtg
He is 10th in Def +/-, 15th in Box +/-, 3rd in USG, 16th in Block %, 4th in REB%, 7th in PER.
Now his production is pretty good, but his USG is high as hell so he should have the counting stats. What is more telling is what impact does that have on the rest of the team? Offensively the Kings were 14th in offense (not overly talented but middle of the road team), but on defense where big men should have the most impact the Kings are 27th in defense.
Cousins doesn't help the offense by turning the ball over 4.3 times a game which is nearly double of any other King and he is 2nd in the NBA in that category behind Russell Westbrook and ahead of Lebron. In fact you do not find another big man with that many TOV until you get to Josh Smith who turned the ball over 2.5 times. Then Demarcus can't stay on the court because he is the league leader in fouls at 4.1 a game, the only player in the league who fouls at least 4 times a game. The next highest is crazy Larry Sanders at 3.9 fouls.
So I get where some people hear the name "Demarcus Cousins" and assume oooooohhh talented big guy, you have to do everything to keep him happy. Yet in this perimeter oriented NBA Cousins style of play is not where the game is trending. He isn't like Davis who can play inside and out and defend in a multitude of ways. I'm not even going to get into his attitude which is tolerable at best and detrimental/devisive at worst.
Also I think the Kings would take the #2 pick or young talent if they had the time to develop them but management feels they need to put a winning producto on the court this season. Then be playoff contenders the following seasons to keep fans paying for the high priced tickets for the new arena. The Kings are in a tough situation, they need to win now but everyone is not on the same page. They need to start from scratch and build around a young talent like the Thunder/Pelicans have done. Personally, I don't see Cousins ever being a winner, he is a worse Dwight Howard imo, better offense, worse defense and a crappy attitude.......
