How can you like Harris enough to give him the max but not want Carroll at all? You realiz he was dropping close to 20ppg in the playoffs while playing good defense right?
The $$$ difference will only be 4-5mill a year and Carroll has nowhere to go but down (if not immediately then a year or two into the deal) vs Harris who is 22 and I think has tremendous potential. Harris was surrounded by 0 shooters, Carroll was on the most perfect system TEAM in the league.
Scares me a little. Carroll feels old for our core. Just my opinion.
It has nothing to do with the difference in money, they will both probably sign eerily similar contracts, I just don't want Harris on my team. Carroll will be very good throughout a 4 year contract, starting for probably 2 years and then our 3rd wing for the final two years. You can't say what he did in the playoffs was system, he was the only Hawk that showed up consistently and he plays both ends of the floor. Harris had help, don't be foolish. Vucevic is an excellent shooter, Olidipo demands attention with his speed and aggressiveness and the rook was no bum either, if Harris was that good the team would have been much better than it was. He's Carmelo Jr in both style and also being a player you won't win with.
Harris is 22, don't be absurd. He needs to be in a winning culture, to grow with a team.
This is a perfect fit for him. He can play either the 3, or 4, and fits perfectly alongside the rest of our guys.
I like carroll, but as someone else said, at 22, it's awesome that our entire core would range from 19-24. That's not something that EVER happens.
Everyone needs time to grow as a player, and who better to grow with, then an organization steeped in a winning tradition, with an owner that wants to win, and a GM/coach, that's awesome, alongside a great, young group of core players.
