I'd be rocking Kemba*/Winslow/Gilchrist/Vonleh/Biyombo

+Zeller

*I would have shopped Kemba before giving him an extension.

#FIRECHO

That would be the most unproven and lacking of scoring options roster in the entire NBA

Those would be just the PROSPECTS.

Assets>need

Kemba/Henderson/Gilchrist/Zeller/Biyombo

starting lineup.

Much better off than we are now.

He's a 22 year old kid in a new city, it's time we treat him like a Hornet and actually try to support him.

I suggest Frank the Anti-Tank: The Frank Kaminsky Thread.

How about... if he plays good in summer league, we'll give him a new thread. That should be pretty easy for him. He needs to earn a nice thread title.

That standard wasn't applied to the other players recently drafted by us. And he did apologize for his comment about our fans, I'm not sure what else we're expecting him to do with that. As much as we put down this franchise ourselves for its inadequacies for Frank to single us out shouldn't come as a surprise.

Tanks don't do defense- the Frank Kaminsky thread would be my choice. He has to earn a nice one by proving his worth and making up for his attack on this franchise.

If anything we relegated Marvin to where he belongs. A back up 3. His quickness and lateral footwork blow, but he's perfectly fine playing 15 minutes a game there.

Now that we have Frank, I would love to try to move Hawes and sign Biz.

its funny, I hate the Lance trade the most now for this reason.

He's probably the best deal we could get though and he did get us Lamb.

I wouldn't mind Hawes if I thought Al was going and Hawes was going to be a cheap option as a backup starter.
But Al is here for good.

Biz and Frank playing together just seems to make a lot of sense to me.

Trading Al would be ideal. I would think we could get a decent return for him. That way at some point, you always have a stretch big and a good defender on the floor. Either Hawes and Zeller or Frank and Biz or vice versa.

1 year? So, what do you call consecutive top 5 picks that resulted in MKG & Zeller, just 1 year of tanking?

Well you're obviously not going from worst ever to playoffs in a year, we actually tripled our win total between those seasons.

There's no way you could tell me that they were all-in on the Dunlap year. There was a intentional tank methodology in that season too. Therefore, there wasn't just 1 year to tank for Cho

Hell I think the 2 he got was too short. We could be a treadmill team or worse for the foreseeable future because we abandoned it too soon.

yeah I might have exaggerated with the 1 year thing, but it feels like the tank was rushed.

Sad thing is Winslow will play a part in the heat beating us 3 out of 4 games during the regular season for the next few years smh

I was no great fan of this pick, mostly for broader reasons like drafting a 3rd straight **** stretch 4 in the top 10 and passing up a player my eyes told me was good for sure in Winslow. Not necessarily because I thought Frank was some bum of a player, because it's not like I've got my finger on the pulse of College BB these days.

that being said, I think Frank's development over his years at Wisconsin at least bears mentioning and keeping in mind when thinking about his potential on this team. He greatly improved his physicality (which, frosh Frank must've been...woof), and got some defensive fundamentals down to mitigate the limitations he still had, particularly in the post. He got a solid jumpshot down, and discovered where to get consistent points within a very methodical and deliberate offense. I think Zeller has more post game than what he's shown in the pros, but Frank's post game at Wisconsin blows him out of the water. You can at least throw Frank down there in the NBA and let him inside-out the offense like Al does on his best days. He is much more stout on his feet than Zeller. given his history of development, I think now that you've drafted him in the top 10, you owe him the chance to continue to develop. he definitely seems like a smart, self-aware guy.

I can't convince you of that because I think they are similar, which is why I wonder what would've happened if Cho would've offered #9 for Kelly Olynyk & James Young to Ainge. I'm sure he would've declined amid the tale that he's feeding the media about offering 6 1st rounders for #9. By the way, Olynyk is a decent young stretch 4

:D :D :D Sachmo might have a point about trading Al and starting Biz or Tank at Center,Haws at 4 and rotate Cody or Marvin at 4 .What west coast team would want Al? and could we get a solid backup point 15-24 mpg back like Ty Lawson, or Eric Bledsoe?

Neither Lawson or Bledsoe are back up level points. They're high level starters. Neither would be attainable without selling the farm, nor would either embrace a backup role.

Not sure if this was posted earlier but here is Clifford's press conference on Frank. Interesting that he mentions Al needing a fitness routine.

I still think that Frank is going to be haunted by being picked ahead of Winslow and his Bobcats are boring statement for a long time.

That said, just on a whim I went to the Clutchfans Rockets website to see what folks there thought about both Frank and Charoltte drafting him. Long story short folks there were ridiculously high on Frank. Honestly, for the first time I have some hope that Frank might actually be OK.
My picks:
2020 Draft (3rd pick) - Tyrese Haliburton, Devin Vassell, or Onyeka Okongwu
2021 Draft (11th pick) - Moses Moody

How delusional do you have to be to still think that size is what wins out in this league... Anyways, either Frank is going to be a super McBob/Ryan Anderson hybrid or we're getting a new gm and coach.

This year 4 of the top 6 picks - and 7 of the first 12 - were PF/Cs, not to mention a wing who excelled at the 4 in college. Quality bigs are still a valuable commodity.

Yep, the Finals really made people swing too far in the "big men are obsolete" direction. Golden State didn't ever manage, or even really attempt, to punish Houston or Memphis (two teams with elite big men) by going small, they beat them with overwhelming talent and some injury luck for good measure. A truly elite big will still wreck small lineups. There are just very few bigs who are truly elite on both ends at any given time, especially when a lot of big guys like Bosh and Aldridge already play away from the basket anyway. Small ball only neutralizes one-dimensional bigs.

That first minute and a half is pretty damning in relation to Vonleh. Clifford seems to think that Vonleh doesn't have it.
