Hey guys, haven't really been following the Canadian National team -- do we have a list of commits yet? Are the major players still on the fence regarding the National team?

Nothing has been formally announced one way or the other. Nothing from Basketball Canada. No camp invites, no guidance on PanAm rosters or FIBA Americas rosters. Nothing formally from the players.

Only things we know for sure so far:

1) Tyler Ennis is out for the entire summer recovering from shoulder surgery.
2) Trey Lyles' camp said he would not participate with any national team duties in order to focused on rookie NBA season (no surprise).

Anything else solid guys? Too me the rest is rumor and speculation.

However, we expect pretty good participation in the FIBA Americas (the only event that matters).

Yeah, I figured that FIBA was the focus, rather than the Pan-Am Games. Thanks for the update.

Canada blowing out previously unbeaten Italy at the FIBA U19 worlds. Jonathan Givony in attendance, particularly impressed by UNLV-commit Justin Jackson and Harvard-commit Corey Johnson.

The women's under 16 team won the FIBA America gold over Brazil by 1 point in OT.

Not the right game for Dillon Brooks to be in constant foul trouble :o

Very impressive win. Egi and Jackson both looked better than they did against Australia (I didn't watch any of blowout win over Tunisia). Posyer also looked better.

I am still not impressed with any of the PG options, but overall the team did reasonably well in the round robin.

With Brooks' foul trouble this game, and Jackson's injury in Q3 against Australia, they have not had a full game with both guys fully available.

Canada will play loser of Dominican-Korea (likely Korea) in the round of 16, and then winner of Croatia/China (likely Croatia) in the QFs.

Yes, nothing official.

Here is a summary of the rumor and speculation.

PanAms

Olynyk, Nicholson and Bennett have confirmed that they are available to play at PanAms - Toronto Star

Bennett will not be playing Summer League because he will be playing for Canada this summer - Flip Saunders
(not clear whether Saunders meant PanAms, FIBAs, or both, but given that only PanAms conflict with Summer League, could infer that he meant at least PanAms)

Good chance Jamal Murray is on PanAms - Michael Grange
The plan is for Murray to be in senior team camp and to play at PanAms - Ryan Wolstat

Phil and Thomas Scrubb will play for Canada at PanAms - Niagara College Assistant Coach
(but since that tweet, Phil Scrubb being on Raptors' Summer League roster announced)

FIBA Americas

Wiggins will play. - Krawcyznski (AP)
Wiggins would like to play. - Nash

Wiggins, Stauskas, Powell, Bennett and Olynyk are confirmed - Wolstat

Thompson won't play - Chris Haynes (Cleveland Plain Dealer)
Canada hasn't yet reached out to Thompson - Grange

Lyles and Ennis won't play (PanAms or FIBA) - see Mojo's post above

And in today's Toronto Sun, Steve Simmons says Wiggins, Thompson and Bennett won't be at PanAms.

Not coming to the Pan-Am Games: Andrew Wiggins, Tristan Thompson, Anthony Bennett ...

This was a massive game for us - glad we won.

This was the difference between playing for our lives against the States in the quarterfinals and having a really good shot at a medal. The boys played liked they understood that.

Also good to see Justin Jackson healthy. He is key to our success.

Per hoops hype:

Both Andrew Nicholson & Nik Stauskas will play for Canada at the Pan Am Games according to their agent Mark Bartelstein

Also I was assuming we would blow out Korea - they are holding their own.

Hoping we just take over in the second half much like the Italy game.

Edit: Just watched Justin Jackson handle the ball and go coast to coast then two seconds later attack his defender off the dribble and draw the foul. Impressive. For all this talk on how he's supposed to be a guard/forward I'd never seen it.

Great post. I'm excited about how we look going forward. More excited than I am about the Raps actually.
