Us snatching Tobias from ORL seems like a savvy move against a division foe.

I dont like it, but if we DONT sign Paul, Im sorry fellas we are in BIG BIG BIG trouble. You have no capable Center, you lost 2 of your front court players (Pero/Brand is prob retiring). They have to keep PM.

unless they have a Center up their sleeve, I dont see how they walk away from PM. DMC, this is why we signed Thabo last year. That is our backup plan for losing him.

harris would be the replacement Im guessing they would target. If PM chooses ORL then we have huge issues in the front court.

Im guessing if we BOTH offered 4/80 million, its a no brainer he would stay in ATL.

We were hoping that our free agents would give us a little bit of a hometown discount and also agree to wait to sign with us at the early bird exception. That way we could pursue unrestricted free agents right now since RFA can't sign offer sheets until July 9th. We pick up a couple of role players for depth using our full and mini-MLEs and then come back and sign Sap and DMC with our early bird exceptions.

Hawks still working out details on Splitter swap. There are other moving pieces that will allow the Hawks to still have space for Millsap

I get that. I really do. But a combo of David West, Kostas Koufos and Bobby Portis could cover that some production for less than $20 million. Leaving us a few million to further improve the rotation.

The opportunity costs of paying a limited player like Millsap $20 million is simply too high.

We seemed focused on retaining PM at any costs.

It is likely PM sticks with us, but that no state tax thing in FL makes their deal still slightly more lucrative. And they have a nice young squad and a veteran coach as well down there.

But, I agree he almost certainly comes back. Much to my chagrin.

League executives believe Splitter move for Hawks protects them in case Millsap signs with Orlando. Allows Al Horford to move to PF.

Horford should have been playing the PF position years ago, Hawks are really late on realizing that but better late than never I suppose.

With Tiago and AL in the front court...I'm almost onboard with letting PM walk and pursuing a scoring wing in trade or Free Agency.

But finally acquiring a Center allows me to breathe. Only one question remains:

What did it cost us?!?

(Better not be Tavares!!!)

Agreed. But our $20 million offer to Millsap indicates we prefer him at PF to AL. Tiago comes off the bench or...

AL is on the trading block?!?!?
