BIG EDDIE wrote:Kanter's defensive weakness is way too blown up. He is not a good defender, but there are loads of not good defenders in the NBA who the people still consider to be elite players: Harden, Irving, Monta Ellis, Brook Lopez, Carmelo, Lillard.
Then there are players, whos defense has improved, like Pau Gasol or Al Jefferson.
Brook Lopez got 20 mil, Greg Monroe got also max money and Thad Young got 12.5 mil... Did anyone talk about those players' defense? They are also far from good defenders.
Players you mentioned in first paragraph are backcourt players. Their defense is way easier to hide than one of big guys.
Lopez is an example, and Kanter is even worse. But Nets needs Lopez in offense, we don't need Kanter's offense so bad. Especially if he mess the whole defense.
This is from twitter:
"There are guys who you need to put next to a good defensive player to cover for mistakes. Then there is Teams literally target him.Ibaka will help, but if a team stretches Ibaka to the perimeter, they can do what they did last year: Put Kanter in pn’r to DEATH.
When teams look at a guy and just literally say “attack that dude over and over again” you are a special brand of disaster."
This is Enes Kanter. Possible catastrophe with 15 million salary.
Ontopic with Kanter's seeking of contract.
Now is obvious that he and his agent want max, and Presti doesn't want to give it. So they are waiting for someone to offer them contract that would be satisfying.
BUT Bucks took Monroe,Dallas signed Jordan and Knicks went for Lopez.
So, who else is in a race? Portland has Kaman,Davis,Plumlee,Vonleh and Leonard. I don't see room for Kanter.
Maybe Lakers, but they would rather be one more year bad and with cap space next year.
So Kanter could be forced to take what Presti offered, or sign QF and try to find better contract next year.
