Rather than being a disappointment as the #1 option who can't be the focal point of an offense or create his own shot? The reason why he probably had second thoughts about all this is the realization that Cuban was blowing smoke up his ass with the "Shaq-like" comparisons. That and the fact he publicly stated Dallas was going into tank mode if they didn't get him. That doesn't sound like a winning team.

Or you could say Cuban was still blowing smoke up his ass with that comment. I think he meant with DAJ they have a chance to contend and without him they wouldn't have the talent and rather tank then become a 10th seed in the west. You could say Cuban sees DAJ as a franchise player and a gamechanger for the Mavs...

He's not on his high horse. It's not like the majority of people have pulled stunts like this. It's Jordan's decision and he has the right to choose but my god would it be a dick move to pump fake the Mavs. That's called a lack of integrity and it's fine to point it out.

But I agree he shouldn't be fined. NBA just needs to figure out how to prevent this kind of stuff

The Knicks are sending Stephen A. Smith to Houston to represent their interests.

This whole thing is starting to crack me up, regardless of what happens. When the Mavs group comes up to see DJ, Doc should suggest they take the stairs down, just to get some exercise you know?

Yeah lol! Riding my high horse! Truth is I'm a fan of neither team but a fan on sticking to ur word!

Also who did it ? Carlos Boozer??? Nobody cares about him

It happened to the Clippers when they signed that albatross of a contract for Baron Davis in order to appease Brand who verbally committed then left to Philly. It happened with Turkoglu after his playoff run, it happened with J Kidd, it happened with McDyess, do you want me to continue?!?!

I'm so tired of people attempting to justify this just because it happened before. There is no positive way to spin this for Jordan.

I'm not saying it's right but the amount of vitriol and hate spewed towards the Clippers is fascinating when there is precedence for this being done before. Doc would've been a fool if he didnt' take DJ's call.

I hope this sets off a ripple effect, and all teams start going after guys with verbal agreements already. Would be very entertaining.

I don't think he'll care in 5 years. Nobody will care about this outside of Mark Cuban. He'll never be playing in a Mavs jersey after this, I gather. Just like nobody cares about Elton Brand anymore. I don't even know which team he's on anymore and I was outright furious and sick to my stomach when Brand jumped ship to Philly after verbally agreeing to the Clippers.

On one hand, he's a prick for going back on his word. On the other hand, he's a mental midget.

FWIW, Cuban can sue the LAC for tortious interference with (prospective) business. Wouldn't do anything aside from punitive damages, but hey...that's something. Could also get a rule change about the no signing contracts until the moratorium ends - especially if this has league-wide ramifications.

Precedence doesn't mean it still isn't a **** move by DJ and the Clippers.

Two years back I was interviewing with multiple companies as I wanted to make a move. At the end of the day it was between company A & B. Company A gave me a offer letter right away. Company B said they are in process of sending me an offer letter.

After couple days when I still didn't receive the offer letter I called my HR rep @ Company B and said they I really like the position but I would need an offer at earliest as I already had offer from A. And I need to make a decision fast as it involved relocation and logistics. I had also informed them during the interview that I was also interviewing with Company A.

The HR rep said due to hiring VP being on vacation it is making longer than expected. About 10 days passed and I still didn't have offer letter. So I informed A that I have decided to accept their offer. Right away I also informed B about my decision. The HR rep said what a bad timing, as she was about to email the offer letter. And their total compensation was 10% better, (which I knew to begin with that this company B usually pays 10-15% better). But I said since I have already verbally committed to A, I can't back out. (I was supposed to sign finally paper work in 2-3 days). You know what she said, she is really impressed with my professionalism. And she really appreciated that I am sticking to my commitment, even if that meant they will have to scout for a another candidate going through hundreds of resumes.

In this case, it really bad on Jordan's part to even make it public that he is having second thoughts. Mavs made moves believing in Jordan's commitment. Just like Company A closed the req and informed other candidates that they have decided to hire me. If Jordan ends up going to Clippers, feel really sad for Mavs org and their fans.

Clippers as a org are also being unprofessional. They had their opportunity to recruit him. He was was playing for them. And now all of sudden try to change Jordan's decision. Doesn't matter if they didn't intiate it. Even if Jordan called Ballmer, CP3 and Rivers first, they are still persuading Jordan to backout of commitment.

Well what can you expect from a douche bag like Ballmer.

Just curious...if deandre initiated this with his agent, should the Clippers say "nah dog, stay where you are"? This situation may look unethical, but it's nothing that hasnt happened before.

Who cares Jordan sucks! I want to see him leave Chris Paul because he has no offense and only had defense and rebounding

I think the interesting question is whether or not there were intentional strategies setup (e.g. Rivers telling Blake to speak/convince DJ) to change DJ's mind. I would not be surprised if that was the case given that the Clippers organization would have pretty good knowledge of DJ's weak-mindedness and would wanted to exploit this.
