Really surprised we have no update. Maybe they don't want to go public saying he's okay until after summer league? That way they don't have to play him and can slow the process again until October or later?

That's what I'm assuming as well, I'm not expecting an announcement until after the Summer Leagues.

I don't know why they couldn't say "Embiid's okay but as a precaution we are giving him another two months to recuperate and then putting him on a strict minutes schedule". No need to wait until summer league ends for an announcement like that.

Once they didn't say anything before summer league started I figured that they wouldn't announce anything during the games.

I don't know. The longer it goes the more I feel like it is going to be surgery, but that is purely a feeling of dread based on nothing.

Did you just crawl out from under a rock? He was at minicamp and looked healthy.

He didn't participate in any drills obviously, we're just waiting for the 76ers to release a statement about his health once they have made the decision on what they want to do with all the different dr's advice.

I will say this, if Embiid ends up never playing a game, I wouldn't be mad at the 76ers. Joel Embiid is a FREAK athlete. You could never pass him @ #3 in that draft even with the risk.

i feel like if they were going to do surgery, they would try and get it done as soon as possible so they can start the rehab process as soon as possible. The fact that it is taking so long to me feels like maybe they are just trying to make sure they have all of their ducks in a row to ensure that they really can just give him the full go ahead to be ready to play.

I was hoping somebody would clear up something for me though. What is the purpose of the in person visits to these doctors? Are the ct-scans not enough for them to look at and diagnose? What would a doctor need to see him in person for?

I think they are trying a new treatment (electro-stimulation) and are waiting to see if it works before updating everyone.

You could be right, and obviously I hope you are.

I have wondered about the same thing with regard to in person doctor's visits. Maybe they are doing different tests in each place?

Our brains go all over the place with speculation simply because there is no real news.

I don't blame the team for keeping quiet during this time, but it IS driving me nuts.

I am as invested in this kid as much as anyone else, but lets not hedge our emotions by spreading negativity. If a surgery is required, and if the outlook of full recovery is good, I'll be patient and not completely give up on Embiid. I am not going to pretend that Embiid losing valuable development time isn't important, but hey, how much development do you need when you're 7'2", blessed with unbelievable basketball instincts, and built like you're born to play basketball? Anyway, we should get a report by the end of the week.

In the meantime, we have a fun distraction in Okafor to praise/criticize.
