Match him. He's obviously not worth that contract, but ownership has proven they will spend. Dump Novak and Jones somewhere and that softens the blow this year and with the cap rising next year and then exploding the following its doable.
Also, if you don't want him do you think Presti would want to turn it into a S&T and bring Kaman in for a year for center depth? Or just go sign a street guy? Because you would need another center I thnk.

Yeah, the real answer is they need to ask Durant what he thinks. If he has strong feelings either way about Kanter as a player, they should give him what he prefers. If he doesn't, they need to think really hard about what they think he wants. Appearing cheap is a real possibility and a real reason for Durant to leave. It makes a lot of sense to error on the site of appearing to hustle hard and bet that loyalty will do the rest despite the fact that max'ing Kanter after refusing to do so for Harden will then bookend the book of flaws in Presti's moves in hilarious way.

Hey doc what do you think about the heat this upcoming season. They seem to have a lot of quality if they stay healthy
Whiteside/Amare
Bosh/Roberts
Deng/Green
Wade/Winslow
Dragic/Chalmers or Napier
I see a lot of the general board thinking theyll just be a mid tier team aka 43-47 wins but if they all click I can see them being a pretty damn strong team, maybe the best ECF challenger to a lebron led team since the 2011 Chicago SeriesSpoiler:
What do you think about the Heat?

Interesting how opinions can differ so much on a single player/coach sometimes. I think that he's easily a top 6-8 coach and the only coaches I would blindly take over him are Pop, Carlisle, SVG, Stevens and Kerr. After that I think it's all up for a debate.
Especially after watching the Cavs ugly but effective offense this year I have more appreciation than ever for what Spo did with Miami's offense after 2011. And before you say that he could do what he wanted to do on offense because he had Riley behind him, Riley actually was against small ball and wanted Miami to stay big after Bosh went down. Spo went not only against Riley but also against LeBron who by all accounts hated playing the 4. Given Miami's personnel and the talent I think he did a pretty good job offensively and defensively. He did stick with small ball for one year too long and last season was weird but I will give him another season with presumably better health to reevaluate him.
Regarding Miami in general I think they are going to be a top 4 seed in the East and a strong contender for the ECF if they are healthy when the playoffs start. Even if Wade isn't healthy during the season I think they are going to be a good team with Dragic, Bosh, Whiteside. Wade is an excellent off the ball player and after handling so much of it last season I am sure he won't mind giving it up again. It will only benefit him as he will be 34 next season. Top 4 seed with 50ish wins seems like a reasonable prediction to me.

I can be talked into Kidd over him but not Horny and Stotts.
All 3 are good coaches mind you, but I am sold on Spo making offensive and defensive adjustments with the best players in the league. Those 3 can probably do it too but I am not sure they are better than him.
A different take on Kidd.....I am not sure if I would ever feel comfortable with him as my coach. He seems the kinda guy who would be like a George Karl and push for his own players and trades. He already tried to go after Bill King's job only 1 year in as a coach and got himself the Bucks job which is of course a better job. But I didn't think he would bail after 1 year on the job and make a power play right away lol. Kidd also seems the type of guy where if he ever finds a better situation or your team is going through a lean patch he would probably bail.

Wait, wait... You are taking points from the guy for trying to take control out of Billy King's hands?
And you're taking points off because of what you think he seems like (which he's never done)? I can't agree there but w/e.
Horny IMO is a spectacular coach and Stotts' offensive system is one of the best in the league easily.

If I was a GM I'd have to be pretty desperate to hire him though.
