I'm not sure if it's the passage of time, the 6 rings, GOAT status, the Twitter effect, or some other factor, but Jordan tends to get a pass for doing the same things for which Kobe gets lambasted. Kobe's personality is modeled after his idol, MJ. Your point about Kobe quitting on the Lakers, however, is fair. And it's something I cannot imagine Jordan ever doing.
Actually mike dantoni was kobe's idol growing up (hence his #8 jersey). Jordan is going to get a pass regardless, Chicago got bounced soon as Jordan left (both times). I grew up watching Jordan and there was a huge difference between Jordan and Kobe. Jordan had the respect of his teammates, Kobe never did. Plus kobe rode the coat tails of the great players he had (Shaq in his prime (probably most dominant player ever) and Gasol (dominat and in prime)and bynum (Bynum was a beast when he was in LaLa land). I'm sorry but Kobe is Wilkins except having MVP caliber players around him. All Kobe ever was is a chucker with great players around him.
Btw: why the hell are we talking about Kobe? Let the bandwagon lakers fans reminisce about him. That's all they got now. I can give a **** about Kobe. Let Kobe rot in laker hell.
Pippen was better than anything he had post Shaq. In fact Pippen nearly won MVP in 94' when Jordan retired and Chicago won 55 games. When MJ didn't have great teammates he was bounced in the first round repeatedly. I think Jordan is the GOAT but contrary to popular belief he didn't do it all himself.
I agree Jordan had help (Horace, rodman) but there is no way in hell I would take Pippen over a prime Gasol or Shaq. Pippen was one of the best small forwards of all time but he did not have the ability to "take over" a game. He was what he was, a GREAT #2.
Yeah Chicago won 55 games after Jordan left but no one considered them contenders. In fact the year after that they nearly missed the playoffs (until Jordan decided to come back midway through).
