No body wants to turn it racial but the Media, and fans would've always been misled or even brainwashed by the Media:

Lin got very high expectations from fans solely because the Medias built up that hype 3 yrs ago based on (for the most part) his descent. Lin can do no wrong with that kind of hype.
AND whenever you saw an Asian descent player playing in Euro or America, people would always focus more on the money he can bring with him than the on-court contribution he can bring to the organization. At the end of the day, people would underrate or even overlook his on-court value. That's what&why kastuul called it
stereotype.
The sad truth for Lin or seldom Asian players(especially Chinese cuz China as a whole is kinda rich) in Euro/America is ...
People might not be racists, but they are obsessed by their descent.
Lin, imho, is an underrated player who has been over-hyped(or overblown) for 3 yrs.
