If that huge Ramos bid finally comes from england and you buy a quality replacement like Volland/Martial, or at least both of Oulare&Zivkovic, then you're deep enough to go far in the EL and still secure a CL spot if the team takes to Tuchel like they appear to be.
EDIT:
I would be really excited if I was a BVB fan right now. I know that there were some segments of the fanbase who felt the lineup needed big changes throughout, but Tuchel seems to have had a really fantastic effect on everyone and the energy around the club without massive moves.
The massive improvement on how comfortable you are in possesion will be huge, plus the Weigl and Castro moves help ensure that you don't have to ever rely on Sven or Kehl to recycle your attacking zone possessions through even if injuries are brutal to you again. I really think the impact Klopp's cowardly reliance on them's impact on your disaster season is understated. Those guys just crippled you last year and made the forward players push too much to make things happens; since they knew a pass back to Bender/Kehl was as good as throwing the possession away anyway. So you never built any flow or comfort with the ball that encourages confidence in the final third that was lacking from everyone up front other than Auba.
I'm even curious about Schmelzer, because he has looked like a completely different player in the preseason/EL action I've seen of him since Tuchel started working with him. He's not just whipping accurate crosses into deadly areas in a way I didn't think he was capable of, he's showing a lot more confidence and skill in receiving passes/retaining possession as well. He's always had a tremendous work-rate and was smart with his offensive runs; so if he can finally consistently deliver dangerous balls in the final third, he would have a completely different level of impact. I still wish you could've/had moved for Baba or Digne, but with Dudziak having apparently gotten his head on straight you may well have that worrisome LB position as well.
Burki has already shown what an improvement he is over last season's Weidenfeller; and even Mkhitaryan is looking like the confident and majestic midfielder who set a goal scoring record in the Ukrainian PL under Tuchel. Sahin being hurt, and Ilkay/Shinji still not looking like themselves...from what I've seen...are concerns. As is your depth up front if Auba and/or Reus get hurt, but if you buy Oulare and/or Zivkovic I'll feel better about your ability to get buy with your current attacking depth...nevermind if that huge Ramos bid comes in and you buy Volland/Martial/Shaqiri/Kokorin/Draxler.
Shinji's form does worry me, because I think Miki and Reus are both more likely to shine if they don't need to play the 10 and have a skilled one alongside them; yet if Shinji faulters the only other option would be young Dudziak, pushing Ilkay forward, or maybe trying Kampl in that role (his passing was much more of a factor in his play for RedBull than it has been in Dortmund).
All in all what should be a very exciting season with some great depth in some spots (CB, DM, CM); what should be some good depth in certain spots
...Will be back to finish/edit this in a bit.
