I think Dickey pitched better than that line indicated. Didn't get a few borderline calls which led to those walks that scored on sac flies. Then that homerun was one of the only hard hit balls Dickey allowed but was also a Yankee Stadium special. And that fifth run likely doesn't score if Revere doesn't bobble the ball and hits the cutoff man.

Sounds like sugarcoating to me. His good knuckler wasn't there today and it cost him multiple times for 5 runs.

lol I think we'll just agree to disagree here. Sure, Dickey didn't have his dominant knuckler, but he kept us in the game despite being victimized by some other factors outside his control. He also went the distance and kept the pen out of it. We had a chance to make a run and unfortunately just couldn't solve Tanaka.

If this is what is considered an awesome start for Dickey, the standards have become quite low indeed.

Well, that was a pretty lackluster performance today.

Oh well, no harm done. We're still 3.5 up on the Yankees, and possibly 4 by tomorrow. Yankees still have the Mets, us and Red Sox to face. We're in a good spot. I have no complaints at all about today's loss, because we could have easily lost one, or both, of yesterday's games.

Maybe awesome wasn't the right word (plus I had written that post before he had given up the 5th run), more like a steady start from Dickey where he gave us a shot to win. He pitched a lot better than Estrada did yesterday. It's just that the offense was able to bail Estrada out, but couldn't do that against Tanaka today.

Somewhat expected last game with tanaka on the mound and a desperate yanks team.

Take car of business against the crappy braves while the yanks face the rays.

Oh, I don't think Estrada pitched well either. Both got hit around.

He wasn't awesome BUT he pitched almost the whole game and lately his bad starts still give us a shot at winning the game. If he'd pitched like this in any of the other three games against the Yankees this weekend, guess what? No need to juggle relief pitchers, the pen got a bit of rest, AND the Jays scored enough runs to win the game. There are positives to his performance today. You need "bad performances" like this during the year. You're going to lose a certain number of games and you want losses to have the least impact possible. Pity there's no stat for best losses for pitchers, unless you count innings pitched per loss.

I'm just happy no one else went down today. That in of itself was a big win.

Great series... 3/4 was exactly what they needed, just have to keep momentum going.

Sucks Tulo went down but if it was that series, he'd be in a sling. I'm not that concerned about it.

Going 3 out of 4 was huge. I really thought the first game of the double header was gonna be a loss. The bats brought the team back in and some huge defensive plays saved the game many times near the end. The final out by Pennington stands out big time. The 11th inning meltdown by the Yanks was amazing. I liked what I saw from Stroman, early on he was rushing and looked super eager. Once Martin calmed him down I really liked his demeanor. Other than the one homerun he gave up he looked solid. Tough to see Tulo get hurt and I hope Edwin isn't that serious.

Can we all take in the fact that the Jays went 8-2 in Yankee Stadium this year?

This was a professional loss imo. The key here was to have no one get hurt after almost 24 hrs of straight baseball ...

Hopefully we never have to face Tanaka in a Game 7.

Yankee's will lose in the wild-card game, LLJ. The Rangers and Twins are both closing in on them and if they aren't careful they'll be pitching Tanaka heavily down the stretch just to keep a wild-card spot. ;)
