Russian sports leagues are just oligarchs like him bankrolling big signings. He probably doesn't fully grasp just how important good draft picks really are to the success of a franchise.

It's got nothing to do with the owner. He puts some NBA 'experts' in charge and would have had advisors with experience in NBA business the whole way.

I understand the Russian stereotype but there's ultimately zero reality in what you're suggesting.

This is a man who literally tried to teach NBA players how to dribble better. He doesn't use the internet. He doesn't even have a mobile phone.

A well-informed and intellectually curious NBA owner is not someone who pays Billy King to build his team.

They just lost at home to the Lakers, who pretty much everyone thought was the worst team up until this point. This is getting interesting 8-)

If you think the Nets are bad now, just wait till they go 3 years in a row without a 1st round pick.

It's hard to even imagine a team having a bleaker future. The only bright spot is that New Yorkers will still have a team if the Nets get sold.

Well they get the Celtics pick in 2017 in a worse case scenario. Because you can't trade consecutive picks away, they made it rights to a pick swap instead. (if the Celtics want it).

Nets will find ways to retool in FA, even if it means overpaying for mediocre talent to become a low playoff seed team. But yea, in general, the future is pretty bad indeed.

The problem with that train of thought is that EVERYONE will have cap room the next few years and no one will want to go there. They will pick other teams who actually have a future. You will be left with the Bargs of the world again.

Something tells me the Celtics are going to want to swap. I didn't even know it was legal to trade away 3 first round picks in a row. Somehow the Nets found a way.

They might have to hope that Memphis gets desperate enough to trade for Joe Johnson.

Yeah I think there's going to be a Billy King rule after the next CBA.

joe johnson is pretty much destroying his trade value, he's not better than jeff green at this point.

You guys are in a GREAT position. You get all the benefits of tanking while your team actually wins games.

**** Mitch should've done the same **** with Kobe and Pau :banghead:

It's early and that FG% is going to go up. He was 8-16 today. That said, he's not at the point in his career where he's suppose to be playing 46 mpg. I think he'd be much better on a team where they didn't rely on him so much. He can get you two or three players because of his salary and the Nets need NBA players right now.

So, the Celtics could end up with the 1st, 2nd and 8th picks in this coming draft if the conditions were perfect?

Man, I feel bad for Nets fans. Watch them hand over Ben Simmons or something to the Celtics while being the worst team in the league.
