Ya. More I think about it Cleveland Chicago Atlanta and possibly Miami are really the only teams that scare me in the east. Washington Milwaukee Toronto....meh. They're nothing special. Indiana Orlando Boston. Bah. I predict we are battling for the 4th seed

I think higher of Washington and Toronto and Milwaukee than the Bulls without Thibs.

Keep in mind and understand that if you were a fan of any other team you do know there is NO WAY you would say our roster "scared" you right? lol
If SVG pushes the right buttons and with good health I would agree with you though. If I was picking the lineups I would think we could be a #2 seed, but SVG is not 313

Whats your lineup that could have us #2 in the east?

The Pistons haven't done enough to be able to say things about whether or not teams "scare us".
That's something contending teams say. Sorry.

Re: Reggie Jackson Resigns 5/80
I disagree, but my disagreement will only he born out after the season is underway. With that said, this is why is one short, sweet, simple statement.Snakebites wrote:The Pistons haven't done enough to be able to say things about whether or not teams "scare us".

Combine the leagues best big and roll PG with one of the leagues best pick and roll C, surround them with shooters, while complimenting that group with a stacked bench, and sprinkle in a hell of a winning coach and staff (.610) you have a reason to say they have done enough.
I rest my case until sometime in, um, mid-december.
I am in agreement with others, and I'll go a step further and say the only team that "scares" me is Cleveland, and only (and I do mean only)because they have Lebron James.
Everyone else in my very humble opinion, is ripe for the pickings, as no one else in the east, is truly a contender.
Only cleveland, and in a year, or two, Detroit.
Everyone else has massive gaping holes either in thier starting lineup, bench, or coaching. Detroit has none of those on paper. Only thing Detroit lacks is experience.
All in my humble opinion of course.

It's not a lineup or minute breakdown but a combination of a few things I think could let us have a lot of success:
1. Healthy Brandon Jennings
2. Little bit more of Stanley/Morris at the 4 over Illysaova/Tolliver than most would roll with
3. KCP almost never playing a 2 role in the offense always a 3 because he can't dribble (never secondary facilitator)
4. Reggie not playing pure PG full-time but a little bit at the 1 & 2
5. Use of 2 PG lineups to keep playmakers on the floor at all times (RJ/BJ, SD/RJ, BJ/SD)
6. Getting Darrun Hilliard into the rotation as soon as possible
7. Not letting Stanley get ahead of himself on offense
With the balanced ball-handling on offense, possession for possession we could be one of the most efficient teams in the league on that side, and with RJ, KCP, Morris, Stanley, and Drummond we have solid/versatile defenders as well. I'd say with those 5 vs. a P&R they all can pretty much switch on anybody and hold their own. We can have good efficiency on that side as well.
KCP/Meeks at the 2 makes the offense PG dependent, RJ is not good enough to be the guy he needs help, Jennings/Dinwiddie's games are too perimeter oriented and inefficient they need help, Stanley in a stiff offense will force and become inefficient, and Hilliard can ball. Get around those domino-effect offensive weaknesses with the defenders we have and good health we could be a #2 seed. Roll with the wrong guys too long.... lottery. It's all about lineups I mentioned this last summer with Josh and we FAILED. Cut him we look like a playoff team but we could've just benched him from the start smh.

If he can keep up 23 ppg on 45% shooting, it might go up there with Hill for Wallace/Atkins among the best trades the Pistons ever made. Small sample size though.

Re: Reggie Jackson Resigns 5/80
if you guys recall, RJ had these "spurts" almost every game last year where in 1 quarter he'd pretty much take over. It was normally the 3rd quarter if i recall and we'd hold the lead. He's hasn't really had a marque quarter this season but more so been relatively good over the course of the game. Today he had a dominant quarter

His ability to enter clutch mode in the 4th quarter is something special. He had several clutch games like this one (obviously not quite as good) with us last season. He is the undisputed closer of this team and I feel extremely comfortable riding with Reggie down the stretch. Now if he would start making those easy floaters and layups around the rim in the 1st 3 quarters like we know he can then everything will be perfect in Piston land lol.

I love that he wants the pressure and we need a player that wants the pressure. While it may not always be pretty, he's shown the ability to impose his will more than once and leads us to a win. RJ didn't get 80 million becuase of his stats, he got it because of how he went about getting those stats in a dominant fashion.

Nothing too bad. Players who signed long term contracts 2 years ago are probably feeling out of luck about now.
"People talk about me getting $80 million, now you got people getting $85 million that haven't made the All-Star [Game] or anything like that," Wall said. "I guess they came in at the right time. That new CBA kicked in, and they're good now. Reggie Jackson gets five years, $80 million. I'm getting the same as Reggie Jackson."
Wall said that he's merely noting the way times have changed and is in fact pleased that more guys are getting paid big bucks.
"But I'm happy for all those guys," Wall said. "To see anybody get the opportunity to live their dream out, get the opportunity to take care of their family when they can, it's a blessing."
